I don't shy away from competition, after I made claims, I sent saws. Dennis just suggested 20 guys on this site have high-school shop abilities. If he is going to mouth off, then he should participate. You said you would back him, so back him. Are you a man of your word or just a little girl holding a flower for your hero, as your frilly dress blows in the wind of his bull$hit?

I don't have a dog in this fight, so I'll stay out of that part. But I know funny when I see it. Is that copywrited like Randy's six cube statment, or can anyone use it.

If Dennis would have simply said he is too busy, or sounds fun but not interested, or anything positive that would have been different. Just annoys me when he wanders into a thread and pi$$es all over people. There are some great builders and super nice guys on this site, they should not be insulted by someone who is not even willing to participate.

Stump? Have you been contemplating natural behaviors in yer back yard again? Cause that's squirrel behavior to a tee...

I'm just a guy that has an eye for detail and the ability to learn. Just like most of the guys I've gotten to know here. I really enjoy improving upon an existing design to coax out a bit more power. I don't have the equipment to fabricate parts from scratch, no R&D department, no team of engineers, so I doubt I'll be coming up with any earth shattering "new ideas". :bang:

These pissing contests are just an extension of one's personality. The guys that come across as load mouthed smartasses are just that. None of us, from the best to the least, are doing anything new and different. We are simply adding our twist on an old craft. Rather that get upset from a posters comments, I just take it as chance to see who I would like to get to know better and who I prefer to avoid.

I'll be at Terry's GTG this fall enjoying the company of the many friends I've made since I found the site. Hopefully the smartasses will be too busy to attend.

talk is cheap Simon and youve done your fair share of that.....like telling everyone youd win the WS buildoff....4th aint a win. Not that that is important but maybe the saying "people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones" applies to you. In the past you have talked alot and not backed it up. You have finally come to the party here and good for you....Questioning my man hood, based on someone elses involvement in a hobby is pretty weak. You seem to be offended by the high school shop type comments, is that because you did the hard yards at Uni becoming a Mech. Engineer??? becasue you sure havent let is forgot that you are a Mech Engineer!!!! As fas as that goes I know a couple of guys that could make you look real dumb, real quick in the Mech. Eng. world and all they have is high school education, so get over yourself. You build saws, you havent bent light.

DC is DC, like it or not, he knows what he is talking about when it comes to saws, be it running them in work or race, building them in work or race and more about chains than most of us put together.....does it bother you that some people may have a better grasp at this than a Uni eductaed Mech Eng???

but hey what would I know, Im just a wood butcher with sand between my toes and saltwater up my nose....that would be happy to have the high school abilites of the talented few

So that is a "round-about" way of saying you're not backing Dennis now?

I have every confidence that you would have come in first if the competition was 32" bars in 30" of any sort of wood. Short bars are wasted on your modified 372xp's. There's a reason all the top few saws came in so close together - building a saw that runs on the top end isn't rocket science. But it seems that building a saw that has grunt everywhere, like yours do, and will pull a lot of bar and chain is an art.

Wait... UNI? A Panther?

I was starting to like Simon but since I have a Mech E degree from UofI I now have to dislike him. :D
