Around that i would say .I have used my friends in the past but he got fed up with me asking so i ordered one for my self

bill

Holy crap that's an expensive tool!! I wonder how much to have a dealer just replace the seals??

Get the Leslie Tools one for like $14, made in USA and comes with two hooks, one to file on and one for bigger seals.

I just want to borrow a stihl puller long enough to get the dimensions and make my own.

Anyway to get them out without the tool? I have the clutch side out on my 044 but the flywheel side I just don't see a way without screwing it up.

There are multiple threads on the subject if you do a search.

I use a chain hoist and 7 lb. maul on those tough little flywheel side seals.:ices_rofl:

Thanks. All I had was a 6 lb maul but it worked. After searching I discovered a way. It's not that I'm too lazy to search but the search feature is not that great for pinpointing things unless you get lucky. I had to read a hundred threads today looking for info. Not that I mind but when there's work to do I go for the quick answer if possible. Not that it matters now, none of the crappy dealers around here (3 of them) carry oil seals for an 044. Have to order them. Cheaper online anyways.
Thanks for the help
:rolleyes2:
