ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer ;)

Sorry to be a dink. The way you are asking about this is incredibly odd.

Sweden has intensive silviculture practices that involve the use of clearing saws. Many other places in the world also have similar practices that also involve clearing saws. Many other places yet use clearing saws for clearing. The best made clearing saws are Stihls. Which clearing saw is used in Sweden vs which clearing saw is used in New Hampshire or Venezuela probably depends on what the user can afford, local market prices, preference, dealer support.

Your logic is like this: Germans have the autobahn. Therefore, what car do Germans like the best?
Answer: Stihl makes the best clearing saws.

Hope that's clear, and once again I do apologize for being such an arse but I work too much and this is my only fun

Its all good. I just figured that since the clearing saw is most closely associated with the Swedes, they probably know best about the subject matter. So I figured I would get whatever they use the most. Kinda like if I wanted the best Philly Cheese steak, I would go to Philadelphia to get one. You can still get Philly Cheese steaks anywhere in the U.S., but they are most closely associated with Philadelphia. As far as cars go, cars are seen all around the world and are not particularly associated with any country. ;)

See my reply on page 2, btw Stihls and Huskies are used in sweden, I have watched training videos from swedish silviculture guys and one was using a 480 and the other used a husky 345. Go to your dealer strap on a harness and hold both saws in your hands and see which one feels best to you...It is your money and you wont go wrong with either one(480 or345).....There is often way too much made of the whole Stihl vs Husky crap on here, find a model no matter what the color that is durable and meets your needs and go cut some wood...cheers EH.

Thanks for your reply. I'll probably get one of the two of those. Can you send me a link to those videos?

Sorry I dont have a link to those videos. I have used the 480 for 5 years and I can tell you that you wont go wrong if you purchase it. I also think that there is a dvd from stihl when you purchase your saw.

He is only taking answers from the Swede. Your experience doesn't matter unless you are Swedish, cutting Swedish trees in Sweden with a Swedish made clearing saw.

This is really pretty amusing.

I did a little research on the internet and I like the Husky better. Haha, the saw doesn't have to be cuttin Swedish trees in Sweden! I certainly wont be doing that with the saw anytime soon. On a more serious not, I apologize for having offended you. I don't doubt you have plenty experience, but there are others that have told me the Husky is a superior saw.

I suspect you are missing some ??

Shindaiwa and Echo both make pretty tough big brush saws - like 50cc and such. Point being, I'd be looking for a dealer near you that you can work with, that stocks common parts and such, and see what you can work out. I don't know about getting stuck on a brand

I have a Swedish fetish too so I'll stop bugging ya, but mine isn't about clearing saws :)
