what is the BEST ALL TIME FIREWOOD SAW?

Happy Turkey DAY AS!. As I heard the news the 440 and 460 have been discontinued, I made mention of the 440 ranking right up there with the 372 as one of the best all time firewood saws. With that said, What is the best all time (ONE ONLY) firewood saw. Basically if you didn't have a need to have 15 saws, just one, what would it be?


My Favorite was the 440 for a long time, but a modded original 372xp took that thought away....

365 Special, even though it didnt make your list. Got a 372xpw, ne346, but the special is, just special!

It's hard to pick just one from that list. Any one of those would fit the bill.

i voted for the 372 just cause im a 372xp nut and it would be the best all around saw but in all honesty the all time best "firewood" saw would have to be the 028 farmboss. those little saws have kept more homes warm in he last umpteen yrs than any other saw out there.

365 Special, even though it didnt make your list. Got a 372xpw, ne346, but the special is, just special!

I wanted too, but was limited to 10... Definately my original 372 is really a 365 special from 2000... the oiler worm gear is the only thing I've had trouble with in 13 years of running them. Sold the one off to get a 372 xp X torque and it is slowly begining to be my new favorite.... althought the 365 special and XT are both the best deal out there for professional and Affordable saws... 200 bucks cheaper and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in power in either the special or the XT 365's in wood under 24"

My vote is for the 7900, just because I didn't see a 6800i on the list. No port job needed to make it haul wood.

Oh well... HE should... Best saw and the best bar (for the buck)... besides I can switch them easily between models... I've been running Stihl ES bars on everything for years

NO WAY...a Stihl bar is so unbalanced and its so much more expensive to maintain...you guys are crazy...When ST wakes up there is gonna be some fireworks...oh and fughettabout the crappy dealer servicing on those overpriced bars....oh and the white coloring is so offensive, the way the black painted logo offends the atistic nature of the balancing....

Expensive to maintain? Hardly. The tips are a TON more durable than any powermatch bar. Dressing the rails on oregon bars in a daily chore.. Not with the German made ES bars...I should have said the best readily available bar for the money. I"ve been Running Total Super bars (tsumara) for about 10 years. That in my opinion is the best bar hands down, but the prices of late are more than the rest.. not the deal they once were.

i hear ya on the tsumaras a 25'ES bar here is $162us and i just got a tsumara 24" for $61us to me door :msp_thumbsup:

All Time..Covers a lot of saws! :msp_ohmy: There wasn't a "other" option, so I didn't vote. I used nothing but this Poulan 3400 for 22 years, heating this old farm house. Until I found Arboristsite, I didn't know I was doing it wrong. Have since used quite a few others. But the 3400 never once let me down in all the years I used it cutting 7-8 cords a year with it.

I voted for the 440, I have one. In all honesty MOST firewood cutters use a saw under 70cc. My 440 and big Oly are the only ones in the large class. My true favorite wood cutter would be the 51/55 Husky. I pick that saw up first just about every time.

I voted for the 346xp, because I would want something easy to work with all day since splitting and moving rounds by hand would also be part of the deal for me.
An original 026 would be sweet as well.
