Stihl 036

Hi, I bought a Stihl 036 on ebay, it was cheap but didn't have an oil pump, clutch etc. I am in Ireland and have had it in a few chainsaw shops but when they order a 036 oil pump it does not fit. Is there any number on the saw that I can use to make sure it is an 036

Can you post a photo ? See if there are any numbers molded in the plastic cover etc. that start with 1125.

Also stamped just over the chain cover near the handle on the metal is a serial number I think 113703579, bit hard to read but that what it looks like.

Please see pic's below. You will see from them that there seems to be a hole for an oil pump with a adjuster but when you look underneath there are no adjustment marks or the half circle hole for a screwdriver but made be this one is different

That looks to be an early production 036, maybe the parts guys arent looking at old enough parts drawings.

It is a puzzle. The 034 predecessor to the 036 used the same pump as far as I know. Looks just like an 036 to me.

Is there different spacers/ bearings between the clutch and worm gear or is it just the nomal flat washer.

It is just the gear,a flat washer then the clutch and clutch drum bearing.

Beats me, you wouldn't think they would set up and make two different castings. But, who knows.

Just checking because I have seen one with two washers a small one and the flat one, and sometimes there can be a longer bearing like 2 inches but not sure on which saw or drum

Yes there is one, but when I bought the saw it was completely rebuilt (except for the oil pump etc) so not sure if it is orginal. You can see the button in the pics.

The 034, 036 and 036 PRO all use the same pump held in place by 2 torx head M4 X 12 machine screws. This saw has the two screw mount.

The only different 034/036 series oil pump that I know of, is the 036QS. It uses a completely different 3 screw pump.

That is correct, I did not mention that due to this problem saw having only two mounting screws.

Is the crank bearing seated correctly? I've seen them installed where the bearing was standing proud, preventing the oil pump from sitting flat on its seat.
