Ive noticed some are doing a better job in the fuel and oil cap area, but as you mentioned there are several other areas to check. When the description sometimes read 25:1 fuel/oil ratio thats a dead give away to a fake.

I've got a couple of old Husqvarnas that have fuel caps similar to the fake saw. I doubt if mine is fake though.

I noticed under the Brand Name to the left, the real saw says "Patented".
On the fake saw it says "Patent Pending".

Actually the Patent Pending is correct for a real 365 Special, just went and checked mine.
If they ever start accurately duplicating that white engine label on the top cover of the real saw, we have got real troubles!

I wonder if the fake Husky is any good. If it wasn't so high priced it might be a good homeowner saw if you don't mind the counterfeit thing...Let me also say that I do mind the counterfeiting. Husky spent all the money on R&D only to have someone copy their work and spend virtually nothing on testing.

I must have deleted the thread from my subscriptions, made for some fun flaming!!! poor fella:laugh:

I doubt ebay cares as long as they get their fees...

A) They should care if folks have to factor in a counterfeit possibility factor into their bids. Anyone who sells in this category is effected and should hit the report this item if you care about the final "bid" on your item.

B) The part about the legal precedent.

You guys have good eyes. The only thing I noticed out of place that was obvious was the black or brown Husqvarna on the bar. I've had a few of those through the years too!!!

The silver lining in all this should be the message that is here to be gleaned; buy your Husky from one of the several AS sponsors that support this forum or your local hometown dealer of your choice. I mean how much have you really saved by plunking down $500 for a fake.

Couple of things I noted on the side label.

1 - no registered mark (®) after the Husqvarna name.
2 - the "Special" in the label.

Then if you look closely the black felling line looks like it is painted on with magic marker in the fake.

Good catch on the felling line, the fake in post No.1 doesnt even have a black felling line at all, his sharpie must have given up!

Someone may already have posted about the fact that the BUYER has already posted positive feedback. Would you spend $550 and be positive about your purchase before ever personally inspecting it? That seller does not have other saws for sale at the moment.
Anyone ever personally see, hold, run, a fake Husky? How was it?

I would not, and i have not. Wonder if its a scam to bolster his feeback, seller and winning bidder in cahoots?

What happens a year or two down the road when saws like this start showing up in my searches for parts/non-running/needs a little work. Things that are obvious (or not overtly obvious to someone like me) may not be easily spotted after some hard use. Saw parts are a huge market and this kind of baloney will really muddy things up.

Shhhhhh on the flaws guys, the rice grinders are definitely watchin this site for advice on how to make their copy's better, on the first series even the screws were wrong, I will bet that some of the flaws will change again in the near future,BTW its not just huskies, I've seen bootleg stihl 361, 070,090,261 so if it dont look right, don't bid, or simply ask the seller if the item is legitimate!!, if they say it is and it turns out that you got had, you are protected by ebay as the seller misrepresented the item and owes the buyer a refund!!

Well this one is misrepresented because the seller used the Husqvarna name in the listing. It's fraud and should be a criminal offense.

I've never priced a new one...how much does the real Husqvarna cost?
