I have a Razur Sharp II chain grinder sitting at my grandsons (21) place in Puyallup, WA. I purchased it last Dec. off of Craig's list.
Called the grandson [ before I made the deal ] and made arrangements for him to pick it up from the seller and take it to a UPS wrap & ship store to have them send it.
That has never happened and he says they will not package it and he does not feel confident enough to do it.

I am looking for someone I could pay to package and ship it to me here in Indiana.
Any help or ideas about this would be appreciated.

:msp_confused: fill box with news paper, throw grinder in box, more news paper in box, close box, tape box, drive to ups store.

How does your grandson wipe his own arse? Good Luck with getting the grinder, sounds fishy to me?

Nothing fishy about it.

I told him when I made the deal that he would not have to do anything but take it to the UPS store.
He is not mechanically inclined and I told him how easily it could be broken. His dad worked out there ( and got him a job after he dropped out of college) but was transferred to Kansas and the grandson is renting a place and is there because of work.

Maybe some one that knows the area can give me an idea on where to take it to have it shipped.

Have him deliver to a FedEx store, they pack and ship. I've dropped off old greasy saws before, no problem. Just make sure it's one that does pack & ship, costs about and extra $10.99 for them to package it.

Go to Fed-Ex website and use the store finder for your grandsons area. Pick the closest store that does packaging for you and have him drop it off. They will also pick up at your door with a scheduled appointment, but not sure if it isn't packaged. Worth a phone call.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate your response.

I will give FedEx a try.

The grandson did drive an hour to meet the seller 1/2 way from where I purchased the grinder.

I don't believe that story about the UPS store not packing it at all.

Not sure where this is in WA, but my daughter is in Vancouver if he could get it over there.

Actually that might be accurate. Some of the shipping places here, especially the UPS stores, are real finicky about what they'll package for shipping.

None of them around here will even touch a chainsaw or anything that's ever had fuel in it. If it's a high-dollar item, they don't want to touch it.

Thanks again everyone.

I am sure I over did it with the GS when I hollered at him for hauling it around in the trunk of his car tell the middle of January. He had already tried to ship it and said they wanted him to package it. It also includes the stand.

I will see what I can get accomplished in the next several days.

Not sure what UPS store he tried? There is one just north of Puyallup in the Surprise Lake Shopping Center on Meridian Ave. You may try looking up their number and seeing if they will pack it.
Bremerton is not close to Puyallup. Plus a toll bridge to get back from there.

I've been turned away by UPS because at one time "it had fuel in it".

Well I guess each place could be different.

I myself have personaly shipped a saw UPS out of WA state and plainly stated a used chainsaw was in the box. I have also had my daughter ship them to me from WA and OR, with no problems.

This stuff isn't relative at all to shipping a chain grinder. Something still smells fishy to me about that.

Your right, Probably run by a bunch of old crotchety folk to lazy to do the job. My mom in Idaho has those types in the store there. Every time she goes in with a package they ask her whats in the box and have refused several times.... even though the shipping policy says "yes, we'll ship it".

Vancouver is on the border across from Portland, OR. Puyallup is east of Tacoma. Tacoma is half way to Canada from Vancouver, USA. There is no Cabela's in Bremerton. There are Cabela's in Lacey, Marysville, and Union Gap.

I don't know what the size is of what you are shipping, but I wrapped an axe up in plastic and then used Great Stuff to keep it from harm in a box. I consulted with the guys at Madsen's (a saw shop) on ways to ship it. It takes a couple of days for the Great Stuff to cure though. Good luck.

Sounds like a call to UPS customer service is needed in these instances. I'm sure they would want to know about legitimate business being turned away from them .
