I'm on my last little bit of Cut, Split, Stacked. Now, I'm in the woods trying to get whatever is a least a little dry picked up, hauled up a 30% grade, split, and under cover for a bit before I need to burn it. It sure is tough in a foot and a half of snow!

Getting low - very low indeed.

A week or two left before I start digging into the green stuff. It was split this fall, but it's mostly silver maple, which dries pretty fast. I was hoping not to burn it this year, but I may have to anyway.

I didn't bring as much inside last fall as I normally do for my old non efficient fireplace. I got about another 3 weeks in the back room. Got some maple I split last May and been stacked since which I will probably have to bring inside although I don't really want to and would rather save for next year.

I have plenty stacked for next year.....but I am worried for the following year after next. Living in the city I have to scrounge for fuel.

I had a very small stack of split oak from a couple years back. Have used it all up in the "new" used wood stove I put in my shop a few weeks back. Contemplating buying a load of wood but not sure I can make myself do it. May just enjoy the cold until spring. It sure has been nice having a warm stove in the shop though.

I'm low on "well seasoned" firewood, but i do have lots of green wood i could burn... So, i'm burning a bit more coal than i usually do, i like coal better anyway...

I moved a bit more than half a cord of ash over a couple of weeks ago, and dropped an 8" standing dead ash and brought that over. That turned out to be a good move and let me breathe easier. There are another 2 cords of good wood on the upper porch, plus some extra bits so we should be good. If I need more there is some good oak up under a tarp at the edge of one of my fields, but if this snow doesn't go away I won't be able to get to it.

Now my issue is that I'm running low of short pieces for the little stove. I usually don't really need to burn that, but we really like to.

A good friend of ours ran out so I took a pile of oak over to her place. It was wood that could have used more seasoning and was frozen, but she has stuff to thaw it out with. She heats with a Jotul 4 - I can't help it, I love this stove!

I feel bad because she is always scrounging, but I know I do not have the time or capacity to gather wood for two homes. I'm not gonna try not to let her freeze but there is a limit as to what I can provide. She does have electric baseboard heat, but not a lot of money to pay to use it.

been scrounging for a little while now,and when i think i got enough,i end up needing more...as few others told me,look for off the ground, smaller stuff.......and whatever else you can find..o and smaller limbs worksgreat for starting and getting fire hot,i now started taking alot of tree limbs(smaller better)that i used to leave, will do no more, from now on going to take as much of tree as posible..i even broke down and bought a load, which is the only 2nd time since i starting burning wood.......good luck and be careful cutting in the snow and ice...

Not yet but in march I may have to start scrounging out of next years stack. Hope it's dry, been stacked for only 4 years.

I'm running real low on well seasoned, about 1.5 cords left, Oak and Hickory.
I've got two cords of Oak that was split in Sept-Oct but it won't be ready until next year. I figure I can hold out until mid March.
The last couple of mild winters really spoiled me. Getting caught short won't happen again.

I've got a neighbor who is burning green Oak he just cut. The white smoke from his chimney never seems to stop. He can't understand why his stove isn't putting out much heat.

I've burned about 4 cord. I have 8 or 9 in the pile, but I need to get on the ball and replace what I've burned this year. I have wood to cut, and our addition to finish before spring. Once spring hits, then it's time for new projects and the garden. It's been a cold winter that's for sure.

Good-to-go here... but I will be cuttin' hot-'n'-heavy when I can this year.
I've got plenty for next year, even if it's another cold one... but the year after that ain't lookin' so good.
I figured I had a good three years piled up, but... well... it's been friggin' COLD‼

Well, I'm looking good for next year and probably the year after that, but am gonna have to scrounge for some seasoned dry to finish out this year I'm thinking. Also need some camp wood for this year too.

On top of that, I'm down to one Swedish candle.

Dang, gotta fix that to before long, as I'll need them in a couple months for some late winter/early spring outings...

Might have to bring a couple inside to get them dried in time....

I've been out of dry wood for a couple of weeks, been burning green ash and hickory, so far it seems to be doing the job with no adverse side effects. I'm thankful that I have the green wood to burn.

Man...I'm like that set up for sure...SWEET!!

I'm still good on my seasoned stuff, even with the face cord I gave away to an elderly couple, and one of my wife's friends who needed some wood to tide her over until the heating oil guy delivered another tank load. Can't wait for it to start warming up again, though.

The wood I have now isn't nearly dry enough, but I should be good for the winter. I will not be in this position next winter. One of the many things that will not be happening next winter. Is it weird that I'm already making my list of things to get ready for next winter? :dizzy:

I can see it now... everyone remembering the cold of this winter, stacking up firewood until it covers every available storage space. Then next year will be another mild one like a couple years ago... there'll be a firewood glut, prices will bottom-out, the sellers will be complaining about overstock and no money from what is sold. There'll be plenty of firewood left after next winter... guys will get complacent about their supply... and then, a couple years after that, another cold one will blow through.
And then the cycle of moanin' 'n' groanin' can start all over again :D
Ain't it great??

Hey... not that I'm immune to the moanin' 'n' groanin'... 'cause I sure ain't.
