Looking for any recommendations for a new set of tires for my 2004 toyota tacoma 4wd, it mostly used as a commuter truck however it's also use to bird hunt and other dirt roads. Looking for the best bang for the buck, basically cheap good tires. Any information and personal experience would be great.

I've been very pleased with my Cooper Zeon LTZ's. I had a set of Toyo Open Country AT II's and they were ok, but ended up having them swapped out to the Coopers after about 5k miles.

The coopers aren't really loud on the road, but they're decently aggressive (for an AT at least) and do quite well in mud and dirt. Mine are on a Tahoe, which is my deer and turkey hunting vehicle. Have been very pleased with their performance off road.

Fan of Hankook's also. I ran the dyna pro's on my old ford with good success. Wife loves them on her flex and I have a set of the I-pikes on VW. My truck running Toyo open country MT's b/c someone didn't like them and I got them cheap with about 7k on them...I realize why they didn't like them...especially when it snows.

My local independent dealer is just a two guy shop, both of the guys are avid offroaders and for all terrains on their daily drivers they run Kendas, which, just looking at them, seem to be a lot of good shaped rubber for the price. They beat walmart on price for similar. Get my tax check, I'm getting a set for chev 1/2 ton mud truck 1. Truck two, 3/4 ton with granny 4, (not on the road yet, but coming along when funds permit) already has wrangler oz dotmil tires, about as new as new gets. Basically bought a roller for the wheels and tires and axles, turns out I was able to get it to crank. Still needs some work though, seems overall solid.

They said good solid performers with little road noise or squirrelyness to them. FWIW, I don't own any yet.

Cheap and good. I had a good experience with Kumho Road Venture ATs on my Cherokee. Used mostly for commuting but also some pretty rocky 4x4 trails en route to camping.

Here's some Dueler ATs for a good price. Never used them but good reviews: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...REVO2OWL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Nice truck. I have the same one. Same year. If yours is also a regular cab we are officially the coolest people here. But about tires, cheap and good don't usually go together. Mine came with new yokohama geolanders when i bought it. I couldn't agree more with the people endorsing bfg at's. Being a regular cab that constantly tows a 6x12 trailer, the bfg's REALLY added stability to my truck. I'm on my second set of them now. They picked up nails like a magnet over the years but never went flat on me. I just plug them. On rainy days with the geolanders i would spin wheels on takeoff, and the truck roamed without my permission. Especially with a loaded trailer. Doesn't happen with the bfg's. Realistically the tread on them is overkill for me. What i really like is the wide, flat footprint that keeps the truck feeling firmly planted. The bfg's are a requirement for me on this truck.

I like my mickey thompson stz on my half ton chevy. This is my third set of them.

When it comes to tires I learned to buy the best, generally they are about $100 or so more but I get twice the miles out of them and the warranty is about 80k.
I had a set of Michelin on a van and loved them and put 80 k on them before selling it they still had good tread but were a little checked.
I have a set of them on my car too and love them. Cry once unless you only put 5k a year on them.

I have a set of transforce tire on my van now that are good too no problems so far.
It helps since I got them used for $50 ea along with a spare.

I don't object I buying the best tires out there I love the bFG all terrain and run them on my old ford along with Michelin lpxlpx on my wife's yukon

I have a set General Grabber AT2s on my Jeep. They're a great tire for everything. No road noise at all. They are awesome in snow, ice, and snow packed roads. I can get around in snow in 2wd where I had to have 4wd with my old mud tires. They're great in mud too and clean out well. It'd definitely buy another set.
