Its like ford or chevy. I had a ford pickup that just nickeled and dimed me to death and then got a chevy that didn't give me any problems. Same with saws. We had some stihl saws on the orchard I grew up on that were problems. Went with husky's and didn't have problems. So I became a husky guy and a chevy guy.

my dad and uncle both have sawed trought more than dozen huskies, so it was logical for me to get husky too... and IMO husky is superior to stihl (ergonomics, desing, looks)...

I bought a Mac [not a REAL mac]. mutter... need a real saw .. Mac looked too much like a Husky, my wife had a Husky [Sewing machine] so I bought a Stihl..:D

Started off with macs then a neighbore who used stihl said you got to get one. Ended up finding a used 064 cheap and fell in love, since then found out saw mutiply quickly. Now I have alot of different brands and all have good and bad ones but its all what you like and have had good luck with. Found if you wait for old saws to die before you buy another you will be waiting along time.

For years Stihl was the loggers choice around here. Why because Husky was hard to find in these parts. Sence Husky has a store around here the loggers are going towards Husky and staying there.
Besides Paul Harvey said so.
Me I like the Jonsereds.

the modern jonsies are lame... rakets were a different thing thou, they were the best saw of their time...

Everyone around here uses Stihl. There are a few dealers that are dealing huskys now along with home depot I think or lowes. I just dont think you can get a better saw than a stihl, but everyone has there own opinion. A lot of people dont buy huskies around here because no one works on them in this area.

Still like to support them maybe they will break free of Husky someday.

Grow up with stihl, they were good, then got a Mac, needed a bigger saw, bought a husky, the next saw was a husky too. I guess that is why I like husky.

The one big plus I see is Husky lets their dealers sell their saws on-line, mail order, through box stores, plus through dealers, stihl is only throught he dealer and he can not even advertise the price. I never see stihl saws on sale and if they are it is 5% off MSRP. Huskys go on sale all the time that is the plus of competion, I got my Husky saw new $50 to $100 off list.

Originally brought a little Mac top handle nowt but trouble :deadhorse: and then an Echo 900EVL, 20+ years old (I've owed it for 19 years) and still going strong :) .

Then brought a Husky 42 after using a friends small Husky, and just grown from there :biggrinbounce2: , although I will admit to liking his 090. :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

My stable so far:

Husky 42
Husky 338 xpt
Husky 372 xp
Echo 900EVL

my dad had Remington saws until he got a Stihl 026. We had trouble with that saw every time we used it.

When I moved out I bought a husky I liked it from the beginning my dad liked it to. I need a bigger saw so I went with husky. I am sure they are both very good saws. But I like the feel of the husky better.

Company i worked for had Stihl's since the sixty's, the dealer was and is great. Husky dealer over here.... you won't believe your eyes. The store looks like a battlefield and the guy who owns it, words can't discribe.

But now.... i own several Stihl's and... Husky's.

I like both Stihl and Husky. I must say up front that I'm no professional though. Just a guy that cuts 5 or 6 face cords of firewood a year. I have a 021 with a 14 bar inch bar (had a 16 on it) and a 029 with a 20 inch bar which is going to be replaced by an 18 inch bar soon! However my next saw is going to be a Husky 353 with a 16 inch bar. I have HUGE dealer support in my area from Stihl, Husqvarna and Jonsered which is great!

I wanted something that was between my 021 and 029 as far as weight go's. I went to one of my local dealers who sells Stihl, Husky and Johnny Red ;). I looked the MS280 (because I already owned two Stihl's) and didn't like the way it felt. I picked up the 353 and loved it. A guy at work has a Husky 455 Rancher and it doesn't feel right to me at all. For me it's more of a saw to saw thing then brand to brand.

As I get older (be 32 in December) I try to be more opened minded about things. Brand loyalty stops pretty quick if it isn't comfortable or isn't going to work the way something else will. I go with what will work best for me!

I am neither/nor, I like some parts of the Husky line, and other parts of the Stihl line.
What skews the competition here, is that the Husky pro saws often cost a lot more than comparable Stihls.

A 288XP turned me into a Husqvarna guy. A couple of 2100's kept me there.

I never did make up my mind...although the external clutch with long bars makes me use bad words...a lot. Otherwise both good saws. Now, I guess I can really claim to be a Homelite guy, but since they no longer exist in a "real saw" sense...

Stihl dealer presence is much better than Husqvarna in the places where I live and cut. So when I started out and bought my first saw, Stihl was the natural choice because there were Stihl dealers everywhere!

Knowing what I know now, I'd be less concerned about having access to dealers, but at the time it was a major factor in my decision process. Since then, I've just stuck with Stihl so I wouldn't have any more different brands of OPE than I absolutely need to. So right now most of my saws and blowers are Stihl, and when I liquidate my trimmer collection next spring the replacement will be a Stihl Kombi for string trimmer, stick edger, mini-cultivator, and extended hedge trimmer duty.

I do own a Husqvarna hedge trimmer, though, but that's only because NIB on eBay it was less than 50% of the cost of the similar Stihl model - too good a deal to pass up.

Friggin' Poulan saw turned me off of box-store purchases, so I went to a gen-you-ine chain saw shop - Stihl - when I replaced it.

Not to say I wouln't ever have a Husky or Dolmar...

Welp...........I did not really know "jack" about chainsaws before this summer when I bought my very first saw a Stihl MS 180 for light commercial work in residential subdivisions with an experienced chainsaw friend. I saved up a few bucks and decided that I could earn even more money if I bought a bigger saw.........I ended up buying a MS 361 (Big Brutus) after many hours of study here at the forums:chainsaw: I bought Stihl because of their long standing reputation for making a top quality chainsaw that was known for longtivity + 2 Stihl dealers here in less than 3 miles from me  Now I find myself reading about and contiplating buying other saws that I really do not need....LOL!......just part of da disease I guess :hmm3grin2orange: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon
