IMO AT is far preferable to having to go to dealer for minor carb adjustments to compensate for temp/pressure/whatever changes. There are some carbs that need much more than removal of limiters. E.g. Zama C1Q carb on RedMax GZ4000. That's the sort of thing that can sour you on an otherwise great saw, given the extortionists we have for local dealers.
With AT, gas it and go. I'm really liking AT on my new Husqy 576XP-AT. Thing's a beast- seldom spends much time in a cut.

I'd imagine the 576at would be similar to the 441cxb I had, smooooth as silk but ungainly, way too fat and cumbersome, never felt right so glad the 661 went a different direction, its not a weight thing - it's a feel thing

To each his own, I went back and forth from the 441 and 044 many times and never noticed any real difference, although I have heard many others share your concern. When both were bone stock, they cut about the same also. Note: my 441 was not M-Tronic. I believe the M-Tronic ones run a little stronger, and my subsequent filter & muff mods really woke the 044 up also.

Spot on.

661s make an 064 irrelevant to me , smoooth too.

M-tronic runs stronger in the hands of a lousy tuner mike , workin with saws can make you appreciate how smooth a saw is , day after day all day...the better filtration is a bonus.

Ryan, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think on a stock saw M-Tronic will run a little stronger, while on a ported saw (as you have mentioned) the non-M Tronic saws are a little stronger because the tuners can advance the timing on those saws. Even a great tuner can't adjust the tune on the fly based on the varying load the saw is under, etc. M/T & A/T will tend to keep the saw in the sweet spot.

I also don't know if M-Tronic adds a little wt to the saw, like AT does on a 576. The stihl website did not reflect any difference, but I think the actual wt of M-Tronic saws exceeds the published wt.

I hear you on the smoothness & filtration issues, and I totally agree with you, but as an occasional user they are less of a concern to me. I am, however, looking forward to running both an 064 and 661 at the upcoming GTG. Should be fun!

While converting the Ash logs to post & beam for my cabin the 441 was likely the right choice to use, although I sometimes also used the 044. The filter on the 441 will stay cleaner longer, but the real reason I used it (for the most part) was because I knew milling was tough on a saw and it was still under warranty!

Ive had same models in mtron and standard carby.

M-tronic runs nicer if you cant tune them well ... if you can its a different game.

I like having control of the carb either way..especially in a ported saw.

Havent used a 372 but one of the guys I work with has a 371 that I have spent time on. Great saw but the 576 is way smoother and has noticeably more torque. I like the lighter weight of the 37x series but wouldnt trade my 576 for one. Also thought it is smoother and a bit quicker than a 460, which is a better comparison.
That being said you cant go wrong with either. Both great saws

AT might add 2 ounces to the saw. The 576 is about 15 lbs dry. I don't know what they list on specs. It still handles better to me than a 441.
