Yes.

The elastostart is missing: the regular non Elasto isn't orange.

That is an aftermarket starter handle with the orange cap. I have a dozen of those in a bag around here someplace. It is not an Elasto-start.

But the starter handle is a clue.

Orange dogs the telltale sign?

The orange dawgs don't make it a phony. Those come from Bryce who is just north of where this saw is. The top cover is actually OEM- the aftermarket ones don't have the black rubber insert on the clutch side.

It also has a Bryce tank guard. The muffler is definitely aftermarket as well as the air filter cover.

The gunning site on the top cover sure doesn't look like it came from STIHL

Both of mine (OEM) have them and they're not embossed with black paint like they would be on the bigger saws. My aftermarket cover that I got from Huztl has no gunning line at all and no black insert on the clutch side. That cover might have come from a newer A/M source.

The top cover is definitely not OEM. 1) The TC here is missing the embossed brake lever OEM stenciling between the starter and the muffler; 2) the TC has way too large of a gunny site groove in it compared to OEM, 3) the TC gunny groove is not striped with black which the OEM TC has. The black stripe wears off with age, but on a new saw?

As I said- my Huztl cover has no gunning line but both of my OEM covers (one being new) do with no black paint. My Huztl cover has no black rubber spring latch cover on the clutch side. I think it's an aftermarket saw with a few genuine bits and some Bryce parts.
