PS: Several years ago, I experienced the results of having a tree cut down while baby squirrels were still in it . The worker found them after the tree had come down and brought them to me. Their eyes were still closed and they didn't have any fur yet.
I took them in, fed them with an eye dropper until they could eat on their own, raised them up for several months, and then set them free on the property of a friend out in the woods.
While it was a valuable and heart-warming experience, I'd rather not do it again if I don't have to.
we rescued a squirrel that fell out of a still-standing oak tree in my yard. Eyes not open yet - built a large-ish cage for him after he outgrew the boxes and baskets as he got healthy. Now the wife can only barely stand the idea of putting him back in the yard. In spite of that - my two massive hollies will come down this summer, the damn things block out any hope of sun in my backyard, and have no interesting features to provide. The massive oak, on the other hand.... or the approximately 100 foot tall pine? they will stay until we move out and the next homeowner decides to take them down.

Catch and release is the best policy, as long as the little guy is healthy. He's probably bonded to you, but once he's in his natural habitat, he should do fine

Btw, the person I gave mine to said they had them in the house for several months - until they found they were eating their chairs and sofa from the inside out, making nests! They set them free after that. :D

The little guy has a few hours each day outside of the 5'x3'x18" wood and wire mesh cage I built for him, but supervised. He plays a bit with the two rabbits, one of whom does not appreciate squirrels at all, and the old Siamese cat who largely ignores the strange kitten with the bushy tail.

Oh, how cute!!!
I'll bet there aren't any heads of dead animals hanging on the walls of your house, are there? (please say no. lol)

There's a difference between being taken advantage of and being friendly. You can still be friendly and tell people "Sorry, no deal."

You can all thank me for that. My PM to her paid off! Never thought I would pursue someone who left AS, but a good member like her needs to stick around. However, some of the rest of you..... :buttkick:

Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet. I would think a PhD would understand that concept.

That's why I use these silly smileys so much. They add a bit of information that takes too long to write out, and even though one can be a careful writer, some of you are sloppy readers.

I thought you might know be better than that Unc. Who is TNT between us for you and me to be together arguing morals anyway? I only know her from this post, when I saw it I had to laugh and had to get involved. I was really curious although I knew it would be trouble and I am sorry it had to be with you.

As a full time tree operator, my perspective, well, uh, well, I can't say I have seen it all and that is just it, I haven't seen the ape man's side for one. Maybe I would believe it if I seen it on the news but even then I am gonna have questions.

I am not calling anybody out, only the person wanting an opinion about tree work so I gave it. Most of what I said to anybody else was " YEAH RIGHT!"

( I really am unable to find a smiley to represent that last line because they are annoying so I hope up undertand it pretty good)

As far as being a little biased towards women? Sure, I am biased towards everything and everybody, I ask "WTF did you just say? Do you think that is a bad habit?

I gotta say a few persons have tried to tell me that they didn't authorize the work I did. I asked them if they remember the message they left. Times it has been about fallen trees and such that the person was not going to pay ( or pay very much) to have what NEEDED to be delt with so... well, like I said, WHO knows the conspiracy behind it.

I wouldn't so quick to judge a tree guy, even the ape man. There is something pecuiliar about huge derelict tree trunks fallen over in new growth saplings.

I heard David Bowie's " FIVE YEARS" playing in my head the whole time.

Some say the lady has been on here in the past under a different name of which I don't know. I think a comment made by Del was to that lore. As I say, I don't know.

Nope - 22 years a vegetarian, and even as a kid growing up in the Adirondacks in a hunting family, there were no such trophies.
Yea!! I knew it! Anyone who builds a cage for an orphaned squirrel is a good guy in my book.
I'm almost a vegetarian. It's a hard habit to break. :( Also, I'm not convinced a diet without any red meat is completely healthy. Obviously you are. How do you get enough protein in your diet?

Eggs will help a tremendous amount with the protein.

Party at your house tonight, Dr. Pee? Your post "sounds" like you are drunk.... more than usual.

Yes, I've read that the egg is the "perfect" food, but I've also read that there is no substitute for animal protein in red meat.
Vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, carbs, no carbs, and seasonal diets blah, blah, blah...
It's all so confusing!

Eat Organic red meat once or twice a week. Hormone laden crap is bad news for your health.
egg protein is good but the red meat helps keep you from becoming Anemic.

Yeah, I recently saw a commercial about Walmart now having organic meat. I'll look for it next shopping trip. I already buy everything else (that I can find) organic. Seeds, nuts, fruit and veggies are the majority of my diet these days. And plain fat-free yogurt. I used to gag on yogurt, but I mix it with quinoa and fruit for breakfast and I love it now. Guess my taste buds have matured along with the rest of me. :p

Not a big fan of bread - well except fresh home made bread. I make that about once a month. Also like to make fresh fruit cake, blueberry coffee cakes, naner nut bread and the like. I have to satisfy my sweet tooth, and it's better than store-bought. :)

Almost never drink soda... maybe two so far this year.
