Why Submit a Notice of intent (NOI) for your Timber Harvest?
This voluntary program is designed to assist woodland landowners, loggers and foresters with the pre-planning of logging activity. The program is designed to help the responsible parties select the best management practices (BMP's) that will reduce soil erosion and maintain the harvest site to state standards. Crossties North American railroads use about 22 million crossties each year, and many of those ties are cut from Appalachian hardwood. In this program, learn what the railroads have set forth as requirements for crossties. We’ll discuss how to get the most money from prospective tie logs: the bucking decisions you make in the woods and the way you choose to saw your tie logs can significantly affect your income. International Lumberjack Competition
Lumberjacks from the United States and beyond will show their skills in this action packed competition. Athletes will compete in the underhand chop, open chainsaw, axe throwing, standing block, spring board, Jack and Jill crosscut, two person crosscut and always a fan favorite the hot saws, and new this year, the Jill and Jill crosscut, and women’s underhand chop. The Paul Bunyan Show will also be the home of the Stihl Timbersports national championship competition in the hot saws. The US Title in this event will be awarded at the Show!

Introduction to Wood Drying for Small Businesses and Homeowners (Additional fee applies. Purchase tickets at Show Office.)
Many small businesses and homeowners would like to know how they can dry their own lumber as cheaply as possible, and solar drying is often the first type of dry kiln considered. We’ll briefly discuss solar kilns, but mostly about how to dry wood with as little degrade as possible. Proper drying usually means having more control over the drying conditions than solar kilns offer, so we’ll also discuss the advantages of dehumidification dry kilns for small wood businesses.
