Thanks, p61 western. There was a guy on here selling some NOS Pioneer stuff and I asked about the coil but he never got back to me.

Tonight, I brought back to life a pioneer farmsaw that was sitting for a long time. I got it in a load of parts saw I bought from my local power equipment guy. This farm saw was in a box by itself with a tag that said "no spark". Shocker I know. Also the recoil wasn't working correctly. It even has a decent bar and a really good chain.
I was able to get a spring thing off another saw and recoil was fixed. I checked saw over very well before purchasing an aftermarket coil off fleabay. With a new coil, fuel lines and fuel filter, I gased it up, and it runs great.
Tomorrow I plan on getting it into some wood and see how it does. I can hear it begging to run hard. Once I get it tuned, I just may have to sell it. 1478832661249-844430074.jpg

Before you toss out the dead coil research this thread. They can often be recovered by baking them.
I was skeptical too but I baked mine and it worked. I wanted to go 16 hours but my damned oven is smarter than I am and I only got 12... it was enough.

Nice Farmsaw, I just got it's twin running and am going to give it a workout tomorrow.
I took it out and mine ran very strong. The only thing I ran into was I forgot to take the clutch off and lube the clutch bearing. After a little while cutting, I thought the clutch spring was bad because the chain kept spinning and when I tried to stop it, the saw would quit. Once I took rhe clutch off, it was just a dry sticky bearing. I cleaned it and lubed it, and it is ready to go again.
I was pleased on how strong it ran.

I never realized Pioneer had so many saws using these rings

This is not a for sale ad, I now have most of the Pioneer parts lot that was advertised in the trading post. Still waiting on the smalls and some larger items from the seller. I now have complete top end kits for P41 Farmsaw P51 P52 P655 and most of a P61 complete saw NOS.

They are 66 cc and have a huge amount of torque. Great saws. Not sure what it's worth. I think I paid $75 for a fairly nice one and I felt that was a good buy.
Make sure it has spark.
