Any info would be appreciated as to the good bad or ugly.I see it's not vertically split so I assume it's sort of like my old 350 Husky but it apealled to me anyway and followed me home:)

I still own the 525 that I bought new in '84. Love that saw. 'Course, since I've joined this board there's been 5 saws added to the collection.

:ices_rofl: I am sure TrollSPECTOR will be along soon enough. ;) Might even get alittle 2nd hand hear say along with some book specs. LOL

Oh sure...It's always OUR fault.:deadhorse:

I'm holding you personally responsible Timberhauler. You have far more saws than me-that hardly seems fair:mad: ;)

Don't spare my feelings guys(wife says I have none)If it's an overweight, underpowered pos slug I don't care-I just liked the look of it.I have no intention of giving it hard use.I'm thinking maybe once it's right and all clean and shiny I'll just set it on the mantle-in front of my wedding picture:hmm3grin2orange:

I did a search before I posted this but didn't find out a lot.Thanks:bowdown:

Yep, those saws weren't really silvertops, but the very last ones (1992 or so) had silver colored plastic top covers, real ugly when they stared flaking........

...so did the last (downrated) 2054s, about 5 or 6 years later......:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

OK thanks Troll. My opinion as well-and it was flaking.I have this aversion to painting plastic but on the other hand, the factory did it,sooooooo....call it a blacktop now.Are these rare?:hmm3grin2orange:

According to my friendly neighbourhood Jred dealer, who long owned a 451e himself, tried a 535 and given what he was led to believe about them from Jred, was quite disappointed in the 535 when compared to his old 451.

So Ford, is it open port or closed port cylinder? Does it bolt on like the 500's? Is it a metal case etc like the 500?
i was running 3 5000's 500 357 and 2250 for fun today. Put different chains on the 5000's and 500. 3/8 7/32 cutter .325 with 5/32 and 3/16 modified cutter, and different rims. Just having some fun on a decent day.

----yaaa--and--has higher chain speed probably--most old johny's were screamers---

With an operating speed of 9,000 rpm versus the 290's 13,000, the Jonsie would need an 11-tooth sprocket to come close to the Mighty Farm Boss' chain speed and a 12-tooth to beat it, assuming same pitch chains...

Ford 832 - I'm NOT beating up on your saw, just having fun with math. Congrats on the new rig.

Ah the 535 Classic. 50.9 cc open transfer, with a horizontal split crankcase.
2.3 kw rated,an OK preformer but no 590 by any means. Jonsered claimed
it was the largest selling saw family(510,520 525,450,455) in the elux group
although I suspect the Husky 50 series has out sold it by now.

The operating rpm from what I understand is under cutting load , there might not be such a big difference if the 290s operating rpm was measured . Isn't the 13000 max rpm for the 290 ?
