Stihls and Fords here I work my stuff hard and need it to work so I like to have the best.

Buy quality once, or pay for cheap over and over again.

I've noticed most of the guys here who work out west on the fire lines run STIHL saws. Guess when your life depends on it.....

Theirs a reason so many of the people who make a living running saws rely on STIHL.

Theirs a reason why fire and rescue services rely on STIHL saws.

Theirs a reason ambulances are built on FORD chassis.

Theirs a reason the FORD Crown Victoria is the hands down choice for police cars.

Theirs a reason UPS chose FORDS for their fleet of trucks.

And theirs a reason FORD trucks are the #1 truck in the entire world.

THEIR THE BEST

Can’t argue with the facts. :biggrinbounce2:

Just like a saw...you work it hard, it eventually will need replacing. And they always come back and get another Ford!

Good point, hellwig!

Why I otta.........:buttkick:

I am a chevy guy but I have had good fords in the past. I just like how easy it is to work on chevys. Not to mention that I think proclaiming one brand is better than another is retarded. Everything is built with the same cheap a$$ quality nowadays. 99% of so called problems are mental. If you think one brand is better than the other then you are gonna tend to ignore that bad aspects of said brand and focus more on bad aspects of another when in all actuality everything in junk nowadays.

Thats cause they knew you were gonna need to work on them, thats why the parts are so cheap to.:D

Now thats kinda the V.W I would like! Wonder if it has a gas heater in it?

My favorite truck is the 73-86 Chevy. Second favorite is the one my avatar.

Sorry, I HATE that model. They smell like catfish bait (dexron II leaks perfectly on the exhaust) and they look funny (too square). I do own 5 hood ornaments from that model. We used to drag race for em in high school, none of those 350's could touch my 390.

I simply, absolutely, positutely could not agree more about the brand comparison here. I like Jreds, they suit me, but pretty much all of this brand gas we all spew is just that...gas. ESPECIALLY ME! I work for Ford, believe in the product, but I know for a fact Chevy is a fine competitor.

I can't completely go with you on the last point, though. Ya ever listen to the fine-tuned whir of a modern Baldor? Or held a modern Starrett C-square in your hand? Or a Lie-Nielsen 4 1/2 Smoother? They'll each one make you believe in life again!

I own 7 Chevy's and have Partners/Pioneers, Dolmar/Makita, Stihl, Husky, Poulans, so wheres that put the theory in line. :D

Maybe he was talking about trucks. Starrett no doubt makes some fine tools. I still have some Starrett stuff. Their tap wrenches are without equal.

BTW, what's a c-square?

I don't even know what those are. And I hope you aren't referring to baldor electric motors.

I believe most brand loyalist are only that way because that is the brand that their parents had when they were kids.

I am indeed sir!!

GRRRRRRRRR.......fighting urge to proclaim that they are all junk................................

I am an industrial electrician and couldn't attest to it. They all wirr smooth when you take care of them. Except for the 700hp+ honkers that I walk past every day. You can't even hear the motor itself.

Combination square. Starrett invented it earlier in the last century. More of a woodworking tool than anything else, but it's the one tool that no woodworker is without.

And when "square" has to be dead-nuts 90-degrees, chances are you have a Starrett.

I'm not following here...you really don't like 'em, or just pulling my leg?

My dad never had Starrett. And as far as trucks he has had Ford, Chevy, Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Ford, and Ford. In that order. Also he had a McCollough and I never once thought of getting one. Guess I'm in the minority.

A welder I worked with called that a try square.

Old saw,,,, Dude some how,,,,,, I just see you in a VW?????

2004 Passat Wagon. I drive 40-50k/yr for work, so a pick-up is a "no-go", although I almost had a late 80s Ford 4x4 bagged and tagged. Nice guy that I am, I gave the money to my MIL.

I will admit to being more of a Ford truck guy. All Dad ever had. A '53, '69, '76, '89, and now a, a, a, Dodge?!!!

Wife gets really miffed when I load saws and fresh cut lumber in the back of the VW though. Makes it all worthwhile. She yells less when I use her van.
