My great old Stihl 038 Magnum was stolen yesterday. Right out the back of my truck, when I stopped for breakfast.

I need a powerful, saw, large displacement. Something that will match the performance of that great old saw.

What would you look at today?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your saw. You just can't be too trusting anymore in this day & age. It shocks me to see some of the stuff just lying about in the beds of parked pick-ups.

Anyways, the MS-461 is a very good saw. Rumors are, it will be coming out this Fall as an MS-462 C-M. Might be worth the wait, if you aren't in a big hurry. ;)

Not a hell hot enough for saw thrives. Should be a hanging offense. Worst of all, one of best Stihl saws.

Few years ago, brother in law (soon to be ex) had Pop's 028 Super. Quick erand to Menards forgot about it in back of truck...yep..fast forward about 18 months guy brings saw to shop where we bought it to buy a chain. Old Man Lee sees Pop's name on it. Figures strange that he would have sold it. Calls my Dad. Lee stalled long enough for police to come. Karma.

Went and priced the MS-461, at $1290 w 20" bar. Then looked at the Huskys.
What are the opinions on a Husky 365 $990 (71cc) or Husky 372xp $1225 (also 71cc)?

OMG! Only new saw I purchased was a 066, and it came with a logosol mill for ~ $2600 USD.

Go to trading post for another 038M, 044/440, 046/460.

the new Husqvarna 572xp will be out soon.... this month I believe ....a stihl 038 mag is a beast of a saw ....loved the one I had .....a ms461 will replace It nicely also .......there is a used .046 in the ksl classifieds today for 550$ .....

Still thinking about buying one of the 066s that you put together yourself, down to $180 last time I looked, don't know about the postage..

Chi-Com = crap and putting good people out of work. Here and elsewhere. Shoot yourself in the foot, long enough, and you won't have a leg to stand on.

I'd be shopping for an older Stihl or Husky saw that has a fully adjustable carburetor and a muffler that isn't choked up eco-poo.
My 038 Mag II is current on loan to my SIL, but when its returned it might be looking for a new home since I recently bought a MS 440 Magnum.

I hope he doesn't straight gas it...

I don't have a son in law, but my brothers in law aren't very handy when it comes to mechanical stuff. Only loaner they would get would be one of my newer plastic Poulans...

That's why they made the Wild Thing...

The 572xp is only being released in Europe this year. 372xp or 038 mag for the win !!
