Did you ever get the rim?
Still waiting for the rimrim. No one makes a 3/8 lp rim so he's making it custom. He told me it may be a few days.

Don’t know about James but on my modded 490 I’m running .325, .050, 72dl, 18”. Anybody that tries it is impressed, even the guy down the road that thinks Stihl is the Mecca of Saws.
I run 16" .325 on mine. Just a simple MM and retune. It pulls it no problem. Just trying the lp setup cause I'm bored and it interest me. My ms250 doesn't leave the shelf since I got the 490.

Yep i have a few 18 inch one's an echo the other a heavy duty older oregon d176 from a 3.7 craftsman....that bar is thick compared to the one that came off the cs 440.... i have a mountain of old chain to dig up i tried to post pics from my phone but it said low memory.....im in for the night LMAO!

Never met one I don't like. Just like some more than others!

Many years ago I ran an old Poulan. No front hand guard at all. Loud as all get out and MANUEL thumb pump oiler.
Can't say, I didn't like that saw but I damn sure was afraid of it. Back in the 60s early 70s things were different.
I wouldn't like a saw without automatic oiler but years ago Remington sold a small limbing saw. Electric and very small and light. Manuel oiler. It was great for cutting old flooring out of Mobile Homes. I'd used the tip and scratch along the wall. Could get places a circle saw couldn't. I paid 35 dollars bought without the pole. I gave that one to a friend because I wanted a new one though that saw was in great shape. Recently I ordered a Remington Limb and trim to use building a barn. When it arrived they had extended the handle ruined the balance. I returned the saw and requested the short handle one only to be told to get that saw I'd need to pay 100$ because it's no longer sold without the extension pole. So Walmart sells a small Worx. ONLY the ones sold as a pole saw have automatic oiler. When building a pole barn a light electric chainsaw makes notching poles for headers easy. I could use the little Remington with one hand but pumping the oil reservoir cap was a pita.

Looking from the clutch / bar side I'm seeing quiet a bit of cooling fin. I'm not sure but if mine looks like that and it's cold out in my shop. Without me looking, did you remove some plastic or is that stock?

Hardest part of the mm for me was getting the screws out of the deflector. They are a ***** to get loose. After that just pull tube under spark screen and cut front out of deflector and put it back together then retune.IMG_20170302_143924.jpg

dam your right its stock but i see a hole on the clutch cover.... it was recon store shelf unit.... wonder if its missing part ????its not to cold for me to head out....

I went ahead and modded the muffler while was in there....tube out kept screen had to change screws the both stripped out....cheap ass screws....i should done it before i ever started it......easy up grade unless it gets dark and you run into tripped screws and alot of other stupid stuff as i was in a hurry.... but its done... need to tune it in some wood....

It’s raining here, I’ll post my 490 pics tomorrow to help you out. Looks like it was molded that way but can’t remember what mine looks like. Oh heck, I’ll walk out now.
