and pricey. I have a price list from 1980ish somewhere and the 451e was almost as much as a 621. I think it was $420 vs. $460.

Yep exactly right.......I have a Sept 1 1980 price list too...$419.95 with a 16" sprocket nose Sandvik.....$429.95 with and 18: Sandvik. 621 was $459.95 with a 16" bar and went up to $489.95 with a 24". On that same list I see that they charge $20.00 extra for the optional chain brake on the 49SP, 621, 70E and 910SP....never heard of a 910SP?? All the 910s I've seen either had no chain brake or the clutch cover mounted one?????.......451E came with the chain brake included same as the 521E.

0D5E07C0-AD77-4ECA-9C00-4A71D468DAB9.jpeg Ok guys. The saga of the 451E continues. Ordered and received seals. Taking the saw apart for cleaning so i dont dump any oil/chips into the case (when i got it the oiler was wide open so everything was soaked in oil and chips had no chance to discharge). Anyway, when i was blowing the outside of the case this wire fell to the ground. Now im not really familiar with the 451E but ive had it apart couple times and am totally stumped. It doesnt go to the kill switch; that one is still connected to the “coil?” by the flywheel. Btw, this appears to have two coils connected with one wire; wasnt expecting that. Anyone recognise this wire? Bout 6” long?
Also, i could really use an ipl if someone has one
Any help greatly appreciated

I looked at the 2 451s I have and can't find that wire.
Early and late versions before and after serial number 1101301

Did a quick triage on my 62 and 621's today - was surprised to find how high the compression was -- all were over 150 with one that hit 225 psi. Not too far from my J'red world record - my 80 hit 238 psi on two different gauges.

These are all higher than the earlier Jonsereds - XB, XD, XF, XH, XG, etc. These are pretty consistent in the 150'ish range.

Would that be the kill wire (coil to ground) when the chain brake is tripped?

It's in the 49sp range.

Hey Dean!!! I came across a little packet in the mess on my bench when I was cleaning up the other day......it had a recoil bushing and a NOS carb gasket in the tiny Ziploc?????????

THEN I remembered........those were supposed to go to Dean?????...Thought I mailed them to you like....two years ago or something.....guess I failed:buttkick:......do you still need them???:blob2::dumb2::cry:

Yes!!! Heh, they were suppose to be mine . . . . . I thought you didn't like me anymore. :p

No worries, I can't even remember what I was working on or if I eventually found the parts.

Thanks for saying something.

Put dads 70E through its paces a little today. Bought new in the early 80's. The saw is a beast.

That's awesome! Stories make em run better!

I really like the 70e. Just gets to business. Someday I'd like to try a 90 or 910 doesn't seem like there is much weight gain.
