Any Stihl promotions coming up?

I believe they still have the buy a pack of mixing oil or can of pre-mix it doubles your warranty but I know nothing about promo’s . I know the 251 was on promo last month when I was looking at buying a new 261 . The counter guy says the pro saws hardly ever have any promo’s

Thanks vortec. I saw that same promotion last month for the 251, but for some reason I just want a pro saw. Don't really need one though.

I really wanted a 261 with a standard carb, but they have been discontinued as far as I can tell. Only the M Tronic version is being produced now.

I've checked with several Stihl dealers within a 50 mile radius of my home. All tell me the standard 261 (non M Tronic) is out of stock and no longer in production. Are they lying, or does your dealer have access to new, old stock 261's?

They could mean they have some out back in storage . He just said that they could get me one if I wanted non m-tronic . I bought one that was made in 2017 that’s standard carb so I bet someone that doesn’t sell a lot of saws might have one . Or some one that bought a bunch before they switched over

I'm guessing the M-Tronics mostly have the bugs worked out of them by now. I like the power and weight of the 261, but would like a standard carb version for simplicity.

Yah I can’t say much, I wanted the same thing . I can say tho that the m-tronic does have a little more power that I notice when running the 18” 3/8 . Maybe if I took the time to tune my carb every time i wouldn’t notice a difference . If you look on the stihl site they still have the non m-tropic version on it so I’d imagine you can get it

Thanks Justin. Might just buy the quart of premixed fuel for the extra warranty. I use Sabre Professional oil, and don't need any more random bottles laying around my garage.

If you are ready to buy a new saw, the best promotion going is a new credit card. Some cards are offering up to $200.00 cash back on a purchase of $500.00 or more within three months of getting a new card.

I recently purchased a new MS-241 C-M that way. My dealer gave me 10% off the sticker price as well. After all was said and done, my new saw cost me $311.22.

No Stihl promotion is going to do that for you. I do this often. I've saved myself some serious money this way. Also bought my MS-461-R the same way back in Nov. of 2015. I got $250.00 cash back on it, and the dealer took $100.00 off the price as well.

The credit card offers will vary. Do your homework and find the one that best suits your needs. Most also have at least 12 months of 0% interest to pay off the purchase.

Contrary to popular belief, there are some Stihl dealers that will discount their prices. All you have to do is ask for a discount. Some will tell you to take a flying leap. Others will tell you no problem.

Every sthil dealer has a contract and cant sell there stuff less than what sthil says unless if there a employ or if u buy like 2k worth of stuff i will give them a discount

That may be true, but I know otherwise. There ARE Stihl dealers that will happily discount their prices, if you ask them nicely.

It's been MY experience, that those that sell at a discount are not a dedicated dealer. My go to Stihl dealer is also an equipment rental place.

Thanks for the insight guys. The Stihl dealer closest to me is an Ace hardware store that also has a service and rental department. I will see if they can do any better than the published prices. I called them to be certain, and the counter guy says they don't have any MS261's in stock and they cannot order any more. He says the MS261 is still on the Stihl website, but it has been discontinued and no additional units are available for order.

Getting a new credit card is a good idea, but I already have 2 and don't need any more.

I bet of you did some poking around at other dealers you could find a regular one . Just might have to drive a little ways
