I hate to bring the WILDTHANGY back into this but that sucker leaks, BIGTIME. Everytime I put it in the case, the bottom of the case would filll with oil. I always tried to remember to let pressure off the oil cap but my memory failed me more than once, OIL PUDDLE!

Is there a way to tell the year a saw was manufactured? I am looking at a new MS270 for $300 plus $30 for shipping and it's brand new/unused. It does have the screw in black knob with slot which houses the air filter (which has a bolt running through the center also) vs. the twist lever that's on my MS 250, could this be an older model saw then?

No, and no.

The 270 is a much newer and better design than the 250, much better quality also, but also a lot heavier, if you care......;)

You guys gave me too much info, now I want one of each saw. LMAO That 270 sure does feel a ton heavier than my 250. I was thinking that 270 was an older model since the on/off/choke switch, filter and knob I'd mentioned was all different. I was always told "STIHL"...look what all of the road departments etc. use. I have to admit though, I used a 350 Husky the other day and it made my 250 look like a toy and with all of the positive talk about the 353 being considered a professional grade saw and the weight difference (I assume the 353 weighs closely with the 350), I am strongly considering the Husky 353. Oh ya...my wife hates all of you for costing her money and the fact that she has to hear about chainsaws now. :dizzy:

BTW...if I decide to do the Husky 353 thing, which am I looking for (I hear all of this talk about California emissions, green cap, black cap, resrictive mufflers ,etc.)? I don't know what in the world all of this means or which model 353 one should buy??? :dizzy:

Just get the 270, it is a much better saw.

Really...

Well, our leakers are the 353 (oil) and the 5100S (oil and gas), but it helps to let the pressure out of the tanks, when you put them to rest........:buttkick:

I really couldn't care less.....

Exactly. That saw of mine has a problem, tant no biggie. No doult I can fix it. I just thought that would bring you out of your boredom,LOLOL I also got a old 051 that leaks oil too.

You want to talk about leaking oil? My ms192t bleds like a stuck pig!!!!!!!
