And I dont mind asking questions if yall don't mind answering them

Ask away. If anyone on here doesn't want to answer questions, they shouldn't be on here. That's what we're here for, to help each other out and of course just to talk about our chainsaw addictions. I don't know how many saws you have but keep hanging around here and you will have more, trust me.

The key is how long it will sit un used.
Exactly this.

Ethanol mixed fuel, a couple months, tops. If I used my saws every week, this is what I'd run.

Non ethanol fuel w/stabilizer, a year. If I used my saws every month, this is what I'd use. I store enough non ethanol gas w/ a double dose of Stabil to run my generator for a couple weeks, and a few quarts of two stroke oil to mix in if needed. It gets rotated in the car and truck after a year.

Premixed fuel, several years. I burn under two gallons per year, and may not even use my saws some years, so this is what I run. I keep a couple gallons on hand. After our last ice storm, I went to start my saw which had been sitting for 7-8 months. It started on the third pull and ran like I'd used it the day before.

I use TruFuel, it's 91 octane and ethanol free. The price is high but I don't cut nearly as much as some of you all. Plus there's something to be said for knowing that gas mix is fresh for 2 years opened and 5 years unopened. Been using TruFuel for years and I love it! Doesn't matter if you let it sit for a year, always starts right up!

I love this site, but really it just encourages my saw addiction 🤣

Our ethanol free “Rec” fuel from the pump is good for at least 4 months in a plastic can. I’m guessing it’s different for other areas given the variety of responses. A saw will start running hot and lean when it goes bad

I use a modern 1.5 gallon sealed plastic can and non ethanol usually with stihl oil, recently changed to synthetic stihl, prolly 4-5 gallons a year but whatever is in the can sits over winter. I don't drain any of the tools. No issues with start up. 3) 2 stroke saws, a 4mix pole saw, 2) 4mix trimmers, the blower just got switched to a Milwaukee battery blower. Works good for 200'+ of paved driveday
