Just out of curiosity, approximately what would it run to replace a scored piston or a P&C on a saw like a 394 or an 066? My luck I'd find a deal like that except it would need work. Would you pass on it or would it still be a good deal at $500? Just in case I get bit by the CAD bug.
Unfortunately 394 P&C are kinda rare, especially OEM pistons , you can convert it to a 395xp with OEM for about 250 , there’s a few parts that have to change out , besides P&C

And the new 395, if you could find one locally, would be made in Brazil. Should have seen the dealers face when he seen I was right about that :confused::thisthreadisworthlesswithoutpictures:,too bad I don't have one lol.

But a 592 would more be the answer, let's keep up Steve :laughing:.

I found that out when I was searching for her pic. I could understand deleting her knees but not the entire image. Just creating problems when there were none to start with. Same with Aunt Jemima. :mad:
 
2006 was not the last year of 5.9 my 07 has a 5.9 depends on production date . Mine was built January 2007 .

I personally would leaning towards the Dodge . Mine has been a very good truck but others I’m sure will bash it
Be happy you didn't have an early 6.7L my service truck was one. Gutless pos had all kinds of issues. Fortunately all while it was under warranty. Besides the leaky head and freeze plugs that fell out all the other issues stopped being an issue after the warranty ran out. Truck was still a massive turd w/o the tuner, even got better mpg with the tuner.
 
I thought the 6.0 was the problem child?
It could easily be fixed not to be an issue, I know more guys that have good running 6.0L then guys that still have a 6.4l it was such junk it promoted ford to build their own engine instead of using international engines.
Ford guys will bash the other two makes and vice versa. Seems to me that all makes have good and bad years. I just don't know enough about specific years and makes to know. That's why I'm asking you guys. I'm sure a man of you skills and trade is very knowledgeable and a fountain of information when it comes to pickups.

Not if they have a Brain. The cummins has always been the best engine since dodge first started using it. The 6.9 then 7.3L in all it vareients were good and reliable but they weren't as simple or reliable as a cummins. And chevy didn't have a dog in the game till the duraturd came out in 2000 (sometime around there). The idea is simple pick your poison and live with it. I like ford trucks and I like 5.9L cummins. So I'll either buy a Ford or a dodge and live with the engine I don't really like or deal with a truck I don't really like. Simple as that.

Stopped at the place I bought the Z-turn at Tuesday. They have a new shop. They had the full line of hooskies on the shelves. Echoes too. They had a 395 and 2100? on the shelf too but not listed in this link.

I don't know why they don't put turbo gassers in the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. That little 3.5 EcoBoost tows awesome in the half ton. Torque is all in way low so you don't need to rev it high it just lugs like a mini diesel. I think there's a market for it. Unless you're hot shotting freight all over creation or yanking a backhoe around, it's hard to justify the diesel engine. Imagine your favorite small V8 be it coyote or 5.3 ls, Hemi,etc, with a turbo. Most of these engines make 400 hp or so. Wouldn't take a pile of boost to make a 5-550hp engine with gobs of torque at low rpms, while turning in decent mileage when not under load.
