Man I am all over this place!
Ok next question, I am thinking of getting an 18" bar to add to my 360 PRO aresenal and want to find out who makes a good bar with nose sproket that will fit my saw? Would I have to order a new bar from my dealer, or does Stihl sell bars seperatly?
Thoughts???Opinions???
Oh and I am running a 3/8 pitch RS. on my current 20" Rollmatic ES bar.

As always-
Thanks

Drew

Well I just talked to my local dealer and Stihl Corp. What a joke! None of these jokers (no offense Jokers) could find the part # for an 18" 3/8" .050 Rollmatic ES bar! When we finally found it my dealer quoted me $41.98 w/out tax or shipping added yet. I am wondering who else makes a good bar for my saw aside from Stihl.

1- The tiny angled oil orifice got clogged very easily and I had to go find a new tool to clean it out- nothing on my truck was tiny and stiff enough to clean out the hole.

I think you did have something small enough.:D

Gonna expose some of my ignorance here but...

i go to Windsors web site to look up a part # for an 18" Speed tip.
3/8" pitch, .050 gauge. Whats all the drive link stuff?
I see one that has 64 drive links
one that has 68 dl's
and 2 that have 66 dl's

How do I know which will fit my 360 PRO?
Want to try to find a price...
thanks-
Drew

Hey Rocky,
Nex time you go to your Dentist, as him/her for an old dental pick.
They have an nice sharp small point on it for cleaning out small spaces.
I've also see them in an auto/farm supply store for a few dollars.
Let me know if you can't find them, I will get one for you.

The reason for the different drive link counts is that all 18" bars are the same. Depending on how close the bar is mounted to the sprocket determines how many drive links the chain has. A 18" Husky bar may be 66 dl while a 18" Stihl may be 68.

I like Oregon and Windsor. Oregon owns Windsor, and makes all of the bars for Electrolux saws.

Personally I have been partial to the Windsor Speed Tips as of late I like they're 5 rivet tip compared to Oregons single rivet..I have noticed on the Oregon bars it does'nt take much to loosen up that one rivet..GB bars are a good choice too although I have only used one I did'nt have any problems with it..Good luck with your decision

Later Rob.

I have also had really good luck with windsor bars. I recently tried to get a mini pro for my shindaiwa 488 from commercial cutters direct and baileys and they both told me that the mini pro is now discontinued. They did have some stock left for husky and stihl but they said once they were gone that was it. Too bad because they were probably the best built small profile bar out there.

Bar's

Hey Drew, Check with Bailey's they have a carlton bar on sale. I just got one for a 045 I'm selling, it looks like a good sprocket tip bar. I'll let ya know in a couple days, after I run it through some wood. I got a 22 inch bar for 20.00 plus $6.00 shipping. They also sell windsor and Oregon. Personally I like the windsor bars cheaper than most yet made in the USA. Good luck The Hoosier

Sharpen your chain the in-laws are pulling in!!!!!

Bars ?

I think you should back up and know the different type of bars.

Do you know they make different quality bars?

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!
Don, as to the type of bars, I am looking for something along the Stihl Rollmatic ES line of bars with a roller sproket nose. At this point, I may just ge ordering a Stihl bar in the near future.
thanks-
Drew

Get a solid bar with sprocket nose

I would look at

Cannon
Windsor Speed tip
GBBar.

I think Stihl bars are made by Windsor/Oregon . At least that is what the distributors tell us.

Baileys had a big sale the other day.
Ask Jeff, he has deals all the time.
I have some 18 21 inch OEM Speed tips if interested.

Thanks for posting the Bailey's URL. I sent for their catalog.

I didn't know of Baileys before and will be ordering some new bars and chains this autumn and wonder how they compare in price to the other mail order chainsaw catalogs I have.

Frankly, it will be hard to find a bad bar. They are all pretty good now days since the Homelite, Disston and the like disappeared from the market.

I would look for other than the small angled oiling hole. As someone said, they are troublesome, but they appear on otherwise good quality bars.

Only if you are in Canada. Stihl still makes all the bars sold in the USA (german mfg)and some of the ones sold in Canada. The Canadian bars are oregon powermatches fwiw.

My favorite bar cleaner including it's oil port is a linoleum cutter, with nice point. Pulling away from sprocket nose, till bar is clean, then oil ports (both every time) then slight reclean of anything that came out of oilport and got into bar groove.

At home with compressed air; climbing saw bars get clean, but regular bars i still score with linoleum cutter first. i like it when compressed air gets sprocket to whistle as it freewheels. i also prefer grease ports in nose.

I have gorne away from Stihl to GB Titanium beause of price, quality and longer life,GBs are the go,depends if you can get them over there.
Nice picture.
