038 magnum v 044

This has been done before but not this way
The 038 mag is 72.2cc & 3.6kw / 4.8 hp
The 044 is 70.7cc & 5.4hp
Why is the 038 mag more cc but 0.6 hp less (11%)
Our have I got my figures wrong

Has to do with the port timing and how the cylinder is laid out.
An old Super wiz 55 Homelite is 77cc but definitely not the making the hp of an 038 mag .
I have used both these saws and the 038 feels like it has a flater torque curve or low end grunt but doesn't have the flying through the wood feel , if that makes sense?

Bigger isn’t always more powerful. Never forget chevys lame 454 ss truck that had like 170 hp lol.

044 has smaller bore and more stroke if I remember correctly. Longer stroke gives the 044 more power.
