064 red light

I have opportunity to buy stihl 064 red light saw. Good shape good compression. Is this a risky buy with the non replaceable electronic coil. 064 with good B/C $400

AFAIK, there never was an 064 with an actual red light. However, there were some that had the same CDIC rev limited coil. If in good enough condition, I would but it regardless. They are quite popular.

Well brad, it must be a 66 with a 64 top cover because it's a red light saw. Maybe I go get it today

Is the recoil narrower than a 066? If it's an 064, it should be obviously narrower.

As far as I know, that's correct.

Depending on the case configuration, if the 064 has three mounting bosses for the coil, you can substitute the CDIC coil for a three legged 046 coil, using the top and bottom holes and it will run just fine. Had one set up like that for a while. No issues...
