Have you had the oiler apart?I have a 266SE but I can't get it to oil for the life of me. But even running it a couple minutes its obviously an incredible saw for the weight. Also worth a good bit of money kept up and running well.

I'd buy it but shipping would be a killer.Going to put mine on CL next couple of days, want to give it a good workout tomorrow, too many saws, got to thin the herd.
I'd never replace a 266 cylinder for a 268/272
Unless you want the decomp on a 272 for some reason.
Intresting, some good info there thanks.Nice saw
I have early coarse thread saws
Up through the fine thread 266s
Been running them since the 80s
I've never had a clutch failure in any of my 12-15 I forget
266/268/272s
Several are ported
And all my saws run 24"
I even tried a fine thread aftermarket clutch in a zoo city 272xp
And after 5 gallons of mix no issue's.
The only weak point to the 266 is you'll want more.
Performance wise my 266/268/272 ported saws by two different porter's
Are exceptional and run damn close to each other.

I just came across a 266xp one in the south island CL if it's yours nice saw.Going to put mine on CL next couple of days, want to give it a good workout tomorrow, too many saws, got to thin the herd.
Haven't listed it yet, been rather busy to give it my final workout before I list it but this one is a good looking saw also, I'm about an hour north of Vic.I just came across a 266xp one in the south island CL if it's yours nice saw.
Yes, removed plenty of debris and figured that that would fix it. Completely stopped working after that. no excess wear or broken parts, either.Have you had the oiler apart?
