I have a Husqvarna 266xp and i need to figure out the model year to buy parts. is it located on the saw somewhere?

post your serial # and we can help.
The serial number and year plate is on the lower left corner of the saw case. Its on the side of the pull start towards the front of the saw.

first two numbers of the sn should tell you the year, the next two should tell you which week it was built

Hardly on a 266xp, but on current saws it is correct. The system have changed several times through the years.
On the 266xp, I need the first number and the color of the number plate for the year, and the two next numbers for the week

the number is 7151690 on a black tag
1690th saw built in the 15th week of 1987

Made in 1986, if it's a 266. What model is it?

yeah it is a 266. what year did they stop makinng the the 266?
I think around 1990, but I'm not sure. Others will know for sure.

I suspect the 266xp lasted longer over here, as the 268xp wasn't sold here (that I know).

I did some searching;
The newest IPL I found is dated 1993-01 (US site).
The newest OM I found is dated 1997-01, but not availiable in English (afaik), only SE NO DE FI (Nordic countries).

thanks alot guys
They were still being made in 1998 (had one in the shop here last week) and most likely production ended in 2000 with the last of the 200 series saws.
