361 Vs 460

I was thinkn about buying a bigger saw in the future. How much difference between the 361 & 460? Or should I be thinking more about the 650 or 660? I want to notice a difference.

Get the 880 with a 72" Cannon bar and call er' good.

Does it come with a free weight bench lol! I might have to work out a bit for that one. I think the 460 might be all I need for occasional big wood and eye candy for the work bench.

The 460 will be alot more power than the 361 and is not much heavier. The 660 is considerably heavier than the 460 with the 460 being alot more versatile. I run 18'' on my 361 and 24'' to 28'' on the 460. Just my opinion.:)

folks don't want to hear this, but wouldn't have a 361!

it's an in between saw, the one to have if you could only have one saw. kind of a jack of all trades, but master of none.

since I've got the luxury of owning several saws. much rather get the saw that fits that particular job, instead of making one saw work for all.

for me... it's 026/046/064 combo with 200T for climbing.

by the way I've had 034 super, husky 359, husky 365 etc. sold em all. never touched em, after getting my 046.

Agreed!

I go 280/441/660 with 009 for what little climbing I do.

361 for small stuff, a 460 will smoke it in big stuff. When I cut, the 026 and 440/460 usually go with me. The 361 sits in the closet, all pretty.

Geez, this is exactly where I'm headed. I really will not use (or be able to justify the $$$ for a 660) so my three saw plan is: MS200, MS361(lakeside muffler) and want to add the 460 as my big saw.

I love my 361 especially with the 18" bar, I have used it many times with the 25" and skip chain and it does the job. Now you're telling me to make it a trailer queen - I'm not buying into that story.

My trio will be the 200(rear handle)w/14", 361 w/18" and 460 w/25" and a 32" & 20" in the truck.

This can't be a bad setup!!!

I do almost entirely forestry management, firewood cutting and blow-down cleanup. This is volunteer/charity work - I earn my money working for the power company.

Don't tell me I'm nuts. Yes, I know that in my CAD world I need a 660, I really don't feel like I need one in real life.

OH - I'm not putting my 361 on the shelf. :poke:

Don't tell me I'm deluded. Yes, I know that in my CAD world I need a 660, I really don't feel like I need one in real life.

I like my 361 with the 18" bar but after the muffler mod its a new saw. It starts SOOO much easier and man its got Ballz it pulles my 25" bar with full comp chisel chain in oak and hickory no problem. I'm not ready to retire the 361 just yet.

Ditto for my 361. It's a nice saw but always gets left behind for one reason or another. It's resting for when I need it in the future.

As for the 460, get it you wont regret it. Mod the muffler, tune and you will really like the power. I ran my 046 today blocking 26" red oak with a 28" bar.

If you already have an 034 and a 361 then I'd sell the 361 and get a 460 or if you want to keep them both then go up to a 660.

I think you need more separation then 034, 361, and 460.

You got big gonads to say that here.:poke:

I have both a 361 & a 460. I think it's a nice combo. My 361 does not sit at all. I run the 361 with a 16" bar for the smaller stuff (14 inch diameter or less). When I run into a bigger tree, I use the 460. As far as your main question about wether you wil notice a big difference between the saws, the answer is YES. The 460 is a bad a$$ saw, still my favorite.
