I had a 372 a while back but got rid of it. Sold it to a friend. It had the chain tension on the side. I bought a older 372 for a project saw. The question is. On the older 372 with the chain adj on the front can you swap out the old chain tensioner and buy a new cluth cover with a side tensioner?

The older 372 still have the inboard clutch on them don't they?

Would it work

I believe that "older 372" has to be a 371, if it has the tensioner up front.

It is just a question of removing the front tensioner, and get a new 372 clutch cover - but I don't really see why you want to do it.

The newer cover will fit. The part number is 537033501, and it lists for $46.50. It is an easier way to adjust the chain, but probably not enough to justify the expence, unless you could find a used one for about half the price.

Hey thanks for the reasurance. I bought if of curt B. EBAY. Just for fun. He said the chain tensioner was missing. So i though a new one would be fine to slap on.

Thanks again
