8 pin on an Echo 590

On my ported 590 I’m thinking of trying an 8 pin rim, anyone already tried this? Also I’m running standard Echo bar setup which is 70 dl, with the bigger rim would a 72 dl chain work? Thanks.

Easy enough to try it out!

I would think that 8t/16” would work well. I have found I want more power than a ported 60cc to bury 8t 3/8” 20” in hardwood.

If you are cutting soft wood, such as poplar. cottonwood, linden, willow, etc. That should cause no problem. I would stick with a 7-pin rim for hard stuff (oak, ash locust, hard maple, etc.) because you need the torque.

I usually cut no softer than cherry/maple. Could be a fun experiment, only cost is the rim.

To me the 590 is a fantastic value for a 60cc saw. To many people label it “homeowner” and don’t give it a chance. Your saw cut good.

I agree. They're not bad saws. I went beyond the normal mods for these things but just a muff mod and a retune really wakes them up! Im planning on seeing what i can do with a cs490 next[/QUOTE]
