On my 490 I did the normal muff mod and carb retune. Then converted it from .325 chain to 3/8 lp, totally different saw, it screams.

Muff mod is easiest of all Echo. Take muff off saw, remove deflector, pull out baffle, cut out restrictor metal in deflector. Done. You will need a remachined rim for the 3/8 lp to work. Nate sells them.https://performanceoutdoorequipment.com/m/index.htmNice. I'll tear it apart, study things and then go from there with mods
You can't do it, it's just a homeowner saw .On my ported 590 I’m thinking of trying an 8 pin rim, anyone already tried this? Also I’m running standard Echo bar setup which is 70 dl, with the bigger rim would a 72 dl chain work? Thanks.

Someone had to say it and since I was here .Hahahaha!
interested in results seeing as are saws run almost identical. Should have got video of them running back to back at the GTG.Got the 8 pin rim and the 70 dl chain fits so I’ll be able to run same bar and chain for test. Today is monsoon, maybe tomorrow.

Oh that guy.
On the 7 pin I just let it do it’s thing. On the 8 pin I could hear/feel it slowing so I started pushing on it. I’m no expert but the 7 pin just felt/sounded better. In all honesty maybe the 8 pin would have been better if I had played with the tune for it but I left the same as the 7 pin settings. If you time the cuts though you're a pretty consistent 4 seconds with both sprockets......Interesting
