This is what I bore with. CCMT insert. Set the squish angle on the compound, bore to depth, then cross feed the compound.

This is what I was alluding to in my first post about grinding the end of a bar, drilling, and tapping for an insert.

I also read that guys would bed their cutters in lead to dampen vibration. . . Seems like a good idea.

Here's some ideas for y'all. . . The bars are made from CR (just 1018), and the cutters are made from drill bit shanks.

I don't know many guys that fab/machine that don't have broken drill bits laying in the goody box.

My 460 is home

I just got my 460 back from Eric today. WOW! This thing is sweet. What a difference. Its raining here in Minnesota today so I only got to make a few cuts with it, but I am very impressed. I got a few pics of it just sitting in the garage, I will get some action video of it this weekend. I cant say thank you enough to Eric for doing this for me.

You are quite welcome Andy.
Keep good fuel, clean filter and most of all a sharp chain on it and it will last you a LONG time.
Have Fun but most of all saw safe.
Merry Christmas enjoy
