Was I out of line? Is removing the muffler or plug really THAT "ridiculous"?

Left a bar oil stain.
no. Particularly on easy saws like Stihls with two piece mufflers. But I can see not agreeing to do it in a saw I was selling; I have declined before, generally out of laziness.
Measuring compression only tells part of the story. I’ve bought saws before with good comp but scored piston and rings. So pulling the muffler is best practice, if possible.
Won't even let you pull the spark plug? What's he trying to hide? Walk away. Buy that really nice xl-76 in portage instead.
