I with lone wolf, a log that big if it were Hornbeam would have many more rings, and besides I've seen bark that is shreddy even in a 4 inch diameter tree.

Ya'll folks and your saplings I have some hop horn beam in 10 to 12 inch diameter in my creek but I have seen much larger here.

I don't know what it is but it doesn't look like the hop horn beam we have in NNY.

They start out twisted knarly smooth ****ers but change later. It one of two horn beam or black birch the leaves look a bit too clean compared to my beam but then we are frying down here and have so many bugs.
