Oh yes. It just didn't occur to me that it might be buckthorn because I only ever see it when it's young and small. More like brush.
Lots of bigger buckthorn in Minneapolis metro from what I hear.

It's still standing and I'm probably not going to cut it down.
If it is indeed buckthorn you should cut it down.

Likely to have some berries on it.
Look at the last picture, by the base of the tree is one tan leaf, it looks like a black cherry leaf to me.

That looks a lot like my namesake... Buckthorn. I have a love/hate relationship with the stuff. It's all over my land and is invasive as heck. Makes decent firewood, though.
It isnt beneficial for wildlife (other than maybe cover) and can take over an understory very quickly.
If it has a bright orange sapwood and heartwood it is probably Buckthorn.
