Lit mine last night for first time also. Got down to 36 last night here in Iowa.

First frost

We just had our first frost last night.

A bit late but tomaters were covered.

Still no reason for a fire.

(I put in decent windows a few years back.)

Yea, it's getting cold!

Us too! This is the second night this season I have lit a fire. I just don't want to fire up the electric furnace if I can help it. And on top of that, the wife and I just got back from Maui, since I can't work yet, we went there so I could "recover" there. So we got used to the warmth!
Lit the first fire of the year last night to take the nip off the air. House was down to 65 so I lit a small fire and let it burn out overnight.

Forecast says it is supposed to remain cold for at least 3-5 days then back up to 65 and sunny in the daytime for another week.

K7NUT that's a shame about hitting the deer, Just glad you're still here. I've been riding all my life and i cringe at seeing people doing 70 on the highway with just a dew rag on and a t shirt. I'm all about freedom and stuff but these people have never gone down on a bike or they wouldn't be wearing that light stuff. They also have never been hit in the head or face with a rock from a dump truck or 18 wheeler either. Most everyone that drives the freeway has had their windsheild broken from rocks, well those same rocks come at you're head on a bike. Sorry for hijacking it some more.

I hear you on that one, I have been riding all my life as well, and always gear up.When I was 18, I put my bike down in a curve at over 80mph.Full leathers and helmet let me walk away without too much damage, the bike was totalled.Left the next day for boot camp and had some explaining to do about all the road rash.

Okay, back on topic.Been burning the shop stove for the past two mornings, hard to get the fingers to work when they are cold.Been in the 40's in the mornings.

What's up with only inviting the east coasters to post in this thread? If I post will I be "reported"? The post police gonna come take away my rep or sumthin?

Hey Larry, welcome to Oregon!

My parents just fired up ther wood pellet stove last night. And I have to admit the heat that thing kicks out is amazing. We'll see how many bags they go through this year. Last year I think they went through 1.5 pallets of wood pellets.

Stihl,
That's 4 deg. celsius, 39 deg. in your system.
It does get cold here but.............we ain't buildin the igloos just yet :hmm3grin2orange:

SHHHHHHHHHH! You must not've gotten the Trans-Can Woodburners memo that instructs you all not to tip us yanks off to that so we'll think you're more rugged than you really are.

No worries on my part. We catch up to you at -39°F/C

Anyhow, wife had the stove going yesterday since noon. Only got into the early 50s. There was a thick coat of frost on my windshield at 5:10am that took a few minutes to burn off.

If the rains of June/Jul. didn't kill off the punkins, it'd have been one of those proverbial frost on the pumpkin early fall mornings.

I'm waiting to fire my new owb up! Building a new house and it's not totally hooked up yet. Just got in our mini-split heat pump for ac and mild weather heating installed yesterday. I covered up my wood pile late last night in the dark & 30mph winds...we're "supposed" to get 1-3 inches of rain in these few days. I'll be one happy person sometime in October when we can move in and I'm running the owb sitting in shorts!

Ya hoo! I am burning right now just came home from work it was 0c/ 32f this morning. And I made a small fire at 2:00 am the house was 68F then and when I left for work at 2:30 it was 70, all I through in the wood stove was 5 small pieces. when I came home it was 65F I want 70 lol. Funny in the summer once the house hit's 70 I turn on the air:dizzy: Right now it is +8c and sunny have to cut the grass one last time.

Thanks guys, I always knew that the gear would save me in case of "something like this". Of course, they won't let you on the track without it. BTW, we call the dew rag etc, etc "fools gear"!

Thats me about to "lap" the leaders.
Have you ever been hit in the face with a bug!? HOLY CRAP, that HURTS!
I love my visor!
I can't wait until my PT gets further down the line. I think it's going to be a long cold winter! Maybe not alot of snow, in the lower elevations, but we got NO spring and summer checked out early here in the NWET! How bout the rest of yous guys!?
I want to get out and get a little more wood just to be sure?

:

How are they "leaders" if they are being lapped?

I was racing MX at Woodland MX park and it was the last race of the season. The series was over and I had finished 2nd. This was awards day but they ran races in conjunction with the awards ceremony. The points chase literally came down to the last lap of the official series, I passed the guy who won at the finish line but they gave the moto and championship to him. Anyway there was no way I was letting him beat me this day even if there were no points involved. We freaking berzerked the entire track for six blazing laps and literally lapped 3rd place both motos. He won each time which took the sting out of losing the championship to him, he deserved it that year. Still sucked to come that close but its all good, I won the following year. :D

Lit my first first on Tuesday morning, got into the lower 30's outside and mid-sixties inside. Had to run the propain for a while, then figured I might as well light a quick fire then waste the propain. Also burned last night, got into the upper 30's. Will probably start lighting a fire nightly to keep the chill out.

You gotta fire that baby up..! With the wind and rain, it's pretty chilly out. Had my CB036 started Monday afternoon. This evening was the first time I turned on the blower inthe house. Toasty..:biggrinbounce2:

havent started this year yet! just finished the last joints and flu liner in the chimmney... so maybe saturday evening a fire plus a chilled glass of home made wild grape wine to set the season.... a little dry pine an birch for a test run ? hope for a long cold winter after the last 2 mornings of heavy frost....... bring on the snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, bring it on, the more the better
Maybe we'll even get some sledding in, not like last year's mess?
