I have been using a Ames True Temper splitter axe and it does quite well. I also have been reading about the Fiskars SS and it looks good too. Being as I have just about got my splitter built and not wanting to spend the cash on the Fiskars, I took my grinder to the Ames SS and gave it a trim. Works so much better with 1.25 of less resistance on the business end. My son likes it cause now he can bust up rounds with just a swing or two and it comes out 10X easier if you don't get through on the first try. Anyway, here's a couple pics of before and after.

I had one like that except for the funky handle, and what you ground off, I broke off within the first 15 minutes of use. I took it back to the store.
