only 60s saws stihl ever made was 064 85cc and 066 91cc older saws 650 85cc and 660 91cc newer saws same as the old ones

80s saws were 084 and 088 newer is 880 084 is the older saw 088 replaced the 084 and the 880 replaced the 088 all three are 121 cc engines

not saying there was never a 061 or 081 but stihl never made one going by tech data

You forgot the MS640, and the 650 is not "the same" as the 064, as it is on the 066/660 case.

Anyway, you miss the point, as this thread is not about official info!

how the hell is any member of this site even thinking about giving this a second thought... unless it was an april fools, and it's a couple of days early then. There never was an 061 or 081 - fact! Any references are misprints/typos or misreading a damaged name plate. Just like an 027 or 085

I am 99.999% sure you are right about that!

:agree2:

I was going to mention the MS640, but the Troll beat me to it. It's not sold this side of the pond, so many of us aren't aware of it. I just noticed there was a parts listing for it in my Stihl dealer's computer yesterday, or I'd not know of it either. what do they look like? An 064?

PS: you'd think the spell check on a site like this would know about the existence of the name "Stihl"!

it IS an 064...

So what's the point in them still selling the 064? The 660 has replaced it here; my dealer gave up trying to sell the 650, no one would buy them.

From what I have read, the 064 is lighter than the 660 but makes just as much power but lacking the better antivibe of the 660.:dunno: It also could be the same reason 090s are stihl made for the jungles.

I see, I always just assumed the 066/660 had more poop than the 064, but have never seen specs to find out. I'm sure Sawtroll has'em though!

I don't have the 064 specs but the 650 is rated at 6.5hp while the 660 is 7.1hp. I have ran a 660 and that saw is made for long bars, never ran a 064 so I'm lost on what it can do.

No. I share your frustration. I look at these threads and think -" What the F**K".:dizzy:
And then I think "Just ignore it and it will go away (eventually)"

I saw it today

This is the old thread, but maybe someone is still interested in. Today I saw that Stihl 061 AV on the flea market, it was in part, but as far as I can see it is like my 051 AV, case is the same....maybe I buy it next week for parts, but it is true, that type exists....if I buy I'll make a photo.

There is an 061 currently for sale here in Oz. Send me $300 and i'll buy it for you!!!!!!!

I’ve never replied on a Stihl thread before but I had to because this group is so entertaining. Anyway, I’m not a troll (I don’t think, but I’m wrenching on an 061av as I type. You want to talk about my surprise when I saw this. Now getting parts for it is another story.
