Sounds like a guy riding a hobby horse. He wrote it, he enforces it. Probably is a good ordinance and does need enforcement. He could be one abrasive SOB on the subject of his pet project though.

Sure would like to hear the mayor and council's side to this.

If he was hired on an "at will" basis, he probably doesn't have much recourse other than public opinion/pressure.

My guess is that other arborists are taking back handers for looking the other way, systemic corruption. One honest guy who does his job properly gets shafted.

Id buy him a beer.

Probably, BUT, it could also be a case of one nutcase on the staff who is just a complete idiot about enforcement, citing people for minor issues that really aren't violations.

We don't know the other side.


That said, I'm betting it's one honest guy vs. a corrupt machine.

No good deed goes unpunished!
Try as we do to save trees, we are never going to save them all from the move of farms (rural) to towns (mcmasions & golf course living). Trees take a hit. You are not likely to see that group cleaning gutters or raking leaves. Trees take work and time, the mcmansion crowd don't have time for the trees. Try to save the trees while the town is being built and you are going to be cut just like the trees until the dust settles and you'll be needed again when there is time for trees. It takes time and at todays pace builders are on people time (get it built today) not tree time (it takes years to grow). Just remember, "No good deed goes unpunished".
