I guess we all learn one way or another. Next time you lay down a bead of sealant, wipe 99% of it off. Just enough to cover the surface, sub sub millimeter.
Personally, this sites fascination with removing the base gasket, i.e reducing the squish to increase compression, is unwarranted in most all cases.

Sometimes when we think it’s empty we roll it up to get the last squirts out.
That’s enough sealer to do many saws at the dealer for a year maybe more.
