My jonsered 930 with the jungle muffler makes a beautiful loud sound in the wood, sounds like no other saw. 346xp and 024 are pretty loud with a muffler mod. But hands down my Mac 10-10 with the reed muffler is the loudest saw I have ever heard.

The best sounding saw is a 288. Sounds like a lumpy-cammed big block at idle, and a banshee at full song.
Best saw at idle is the Sachs Dolmar 166.

Loudest saw in existence poulan model 71 open muffler you can actually look in and see the piston going up and down. I'm pretty sure under load the model 71 caused the continents to shift

My personal favorite Homelite C-52 with the stack muffler sounds awesome idling and the revving is loud. My little echo top handle cs-300 is very loud now that the muffler broke off but that doesn't count. Any piped saw sounds good to me. I would really like to hear in person a 288.
The loudest two saws i've had are a Homelite Zip and a Homelite Xl12 with the stack "muffler". I don't know why the term muffler was used though..
