I have a few other Stihl's, but wanted a bigger one. Replaced the plug
and tried to start, but plug was clean. So put a little gas in the plug hole
and it took off. Pulled the carb half off and no fuel coming out of hose.
How does the hose get replaced?? Do you have to disassemble most of the
045 to get to it???? Seems to run OK when you have gas.

look deep down in the tank - you'll see the hose connected to a nipple. There is a hole in the casing that takes it into the carb.. You'll need forceps to get in there..

DON'T split the tank... pain in the butt and you'll need a new gasket.

I've not worked on an 045, but I've been able to get at the filter in other saws by taking a clothes hanger wire and bending it to form a j-shaped hook on the end. You can then pull the line through the opening, and extract the filter/clunk. So, forceps might not be necessary.

There is no external fuel hose for the 045. The hose you can see is the impulse line. The fuel line is a passage in fuel tank/air box assembly that leads to the line inside the tank with the filter. The cylinder boot has a little hole in it that lines up with the passage and seals the joint between the carby and the fuel passage.
