but... but... but... irrespective of the bar length, there is only "one" correct setting for mixture... very short bars adjusted for max WOT will tend to be rich, and long bars..lean... Don't chase tach numbers when changing bar length. If you're not comfortable tuning "by ear', set it by tach with a medium length bar for for the saw in question, and forget it.

I agree!!! The tach is not for tuning, the tach tells you what the result of the correct tune is. A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Always err toward the rich side. Better to make a little less power, than no power at all.
