Can anyone tell me how Buckeye burns. Need to cut one down at middle of driveway, tired of mowing buckeyes in summer.
 
I burn what I cut out of fence rows to keep them trimmed back but wouldnt spend the time to cut one down just for the wood. Its about like pine for heat value and burn time.
 
Only once did I have what I thought was a round of Buckeye that someone left in the local compost recycling center. I remember that it had a rank odor to it, and when it was dry it was pretty light. But it's free wood...:greenchainsaw:
 
It's REALLY hard to split with a maul when it is green. I don't know about a hydraulic splitter.
 
Iffin that's the same tree as we in Md call a horse chestnut, then, to quote my grandmother it'll heat as much as a fart in a galestorm!:angry2:
