How would it be to put the crank in a freezer and keep the halves warm? I knew a guy that used to spray freon on a shaft to slide a bearing on but that was when freon was cheap.

It helps, but the heat makes more difference. Room temperature to 225* with heat VS room temperature to about 0* in the freezer.

I believe the SB on the case bolts was to use 357/346 bolts.

I would strongly consider a 560, but looks like this is the only way to get one and is a little cost prohibitive.

For a momentary derail, Mitch, do you use the Husky tool to seat the seals on the 346?

Never installed seals on a 346.....priced it out many times but no biters. Part them all out.

Loc tite and don't over torque the screws.

I'm not 100% sure of my hunch but if you read into what I've said about pulling the case halves together, I'm not thinking its a surface tension issue. Are the screws a "band-aide", I'm not quite ready to commit to that either.

Why not just do as the SB say - but that's too easy isn't it? :D

You are correct...wow, those are really short for what I am used to seeing for case bolts.

Yes, they are 2/3 the length of "regular" case bolts. Also unlike many case bolts holes, they bottom out instead of going all the way through.

Loc Tite would be too easy.

Otherwise I have to order the screws, or make the one hour drive to my dealer.

I'd just order the screws and get them in a mail. What's it going to cost to ship? A couple extra stamps?

In theory if you had the cases fail then you could probably get warranty down the line even after the 6 months or whatever it is, but if you've been in and out and put in some loctite that may complicate things.
