Yes it can!
Check the STIHL German website: http://www.stihl.de/stihl-rollomatic-es-carbon.aspx
They have created a bar Rollomatic ES CARBON. Available in 25"/63cm and weighs 800grams less than usual Stihl Rollomatic ES.
I bet it would be nice on MS661..mmm.
Wonder what will be the price?
And is the carbon the material of tomorrow's chainsaws?

It will not be cheap that is for sure! I am hearing talk of 250 euros perhaps more.

I have heard it is a limited edition. Here is what webpage says per Google translate:

Incredible, but not impossible.

STIHL Rollomatic ES Carbon - the lightest 63cm-guide rail of the World

With a recent development STIHL marks a new personal best in terms of system performance weight of chainsaws : STIHL Rollomatic ES Carbon is only 780 grams, the world's lightest guide rail with 63 cm cutting length. It thus saves compared with a guide rail of the same length in a conventional design ( Rollomatic ES) a more than 800 grams of weight. This represents a savings of more than 50 percent .

Our latest development is thus exemplary of the claim by STIHL , besides getting new performance and security improvements to make the products easier and more manageable. Progress of the user , first of all benefit .

Thanks to the STIHL Rollomatic ES carboxylic we can reduce the weight of our STIHL chainsaws in the future significantly. Less weight for the same power is a crucial advantage especially for forestry professionals. Even if it is only to a limited number of pieces in the Carbon guide rail , we are pursuing the next logical step , the company's founder, Andreas Stihl has given: the people working with and facilitating in nature.

Look back a day or so there was a thread on it.

A couple of posts from your side of the pond. ;)

How's things over there?
I found it. Sorry for double threads. At least I hope this thread doesn't turn in 261cm vs. 550xp thread..
I wanted more to think of carbon as future material in chainsaw manufacturing..
BTW: Here is also link in English: http://www.stihl.com/incredible-but-not-impossible.aspx
PS: Things are good. It is winter, but no snow. Trees are still a lot smaller than on Your side of the pond and 15" bar is the most popular.

Oh no trouble on a double thread. It was just so you could check any info there. ;)

No snow here either. Rain and mud.
