does a .404 7 pin create the same chain speed as a .375 8 pin.is a 404 chain that much heavier than a 3/8.wouldn't a 404 pull a bigger chip and make it equvelent even if it is a little slower than a 3/8 chain?thanks for any help.

thanks for the info.is it possible to be competetive with a good 404 chain?
 
Jack Stewart made some of the fastest chain ever,and he filed 3/8,404,and 1/2. Art Martin also made some very fast 404.:chainsaw: :chainsaw:

thanks for all the info.with the help of a good pin wrench and cheater pipe i got my clutch off. put on an 8pin 3/8 and tried a full comp chisel with.050 rakers.wow what a difference from the 404.i could'n't even tell the saw was cutting. ther was absolutley no drop in rpm from just revving to actually placing the saw in the wood wich was 14" maple.
