Changing chain question

We bought a 576xp that came with 3/8, .058. All of our other saws ate .050, we buy reels I'd chain and make our own. Can we swap the bar and chain down to .050? Will it matter on the sprocket?

Yep swap the bar and youll be fine, as long as chain pitch remains the same.

cus-deluxe is right. Chain gauge and bar gauge must match - the sprocket only needs to match the pitch of the chain (3/8").

If the saw has been running .058 for a while you might want to replace the sprocket anyway, sprockets are wear items and do have an influence on chain stretch and driver wear.
